1992 Ultra Blue Metallic EGT - The 'scort with no name - crap>reliable daily>rallycross prep>stage rally

"There's a hierarchy of insanity in motor sports. Normal people think all racers are crazy. Folks who race sedans think people in open-wheel cars are nuts. People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."

looked at trying to fit a Group65 battery into the 323, since I have two barely a year old from my F250. gonna need some fiddling around with the tray, probably making a new one, to make it fit in there. But, it'll be cheaper than buying a new battery, which it needs.

Slapped on a coat of Collinite 845, which should be good for most of the winter.

Prior to that, replaced the horn switch plate ("who's the idiot laying on the horn?")

        Next up, an oil change.

BTW, did anyone else get the ignition switch recall notice?

Picked up another BG worth posting. 95 egt with 95,863km. Drove 10 hours round trip through a blizzard to pick it up yesterday. Not even a rock chip in the paint.

Too many vehicles - 2006 ram 2500 5.9l currently 600ish whp (universal ride) - 2000 jaguar xk8 convertible only 120,000km (windy ride) - just acquired 95 egt 95,000km (new project) - other 95 egt brought back from the dead (bomb around ride) - 2000 zx2 s/r 122,000km (circle track race car) - 2000 f150 lightning supercharged 4x4 (been sitting for about 4 years) - 1984 mazda b2200 with the 2.2 perkins diesel (just a sweet ride). Pretty sure I have a few more sitting at the farm. Always built. Never bought.

I gave the guy the cash for it before I even started it or popped the hood.

I've never been a fan of white cars but that thing looks pretty clean!

Reminds me when i bought my 95... listed for $300, starts but won't stay running for more than a few seconds, owner can't figure out the problem and gave up on it.

When i got there i popped the hood, looked at it for a few seconds. Paid the guy. Left my chains and come-along in the truck. Went back to the car, plugged the VAF back in (lol), fired it up and drove it onto the trailer

I pulled the lever by the driver's seat to lean back and thought I broke it when the whole seat leaned back. +1 for new feature discovery.

I also added a lighted switch to my dash. It does nothing but glow and be awesome.

trying to diagnose why the car has developed a serious light throttle surge while it's warming up- the Delrin crossmember bushings and urethane mount inserts probably are not helping, but it moves the car a LOT and also makes it feel like it's going to ****ing fall apart.

used some throttle body cleaner to check for vacuum leaks and everything seems okay. since it's happening when the car is first warming up I'm really leaning towards a bad ECT sensor, which I was delighted to discover is installed vertically in the top of the thermostat housing- I might be able to replace it without spilling coolant all over the street.

also discovered there's a Harbor Freight like three miles away in Little Havana and so now I'm super tempted to go there and buy ALL THE TOOLS

Got my recall notice today, I've already replaced the ignition switch but don't have a receipt for it so I hope they'll just give me one when they eventually have them in stock. I know the techs there aren't going to be happy doing a million ****ing switches while getting paid 1 hour book. They probably won't be the most gentle on the 20 year old column plastics and I finally have one that snaps together proper.

Also I've been snap oversteering like a bitch the last few weekends as I try to throw trail braking back into the mix. I don't think my current all season tires are grippy enough for it. Although I think some of the problem is me driving the 240 more and it's changing my driving habits.

I think I'm going to throw some locking collars on the front and rear sways as on my zip tie test they're moving a good 15mm and think that might help some.

haha I got one of those yesterday and was so confused because it's been years since I've owned a Mazda, and was even more confused when I saw the VIN and was like "when the **** did I have a BG?"

spent some time looking at PIDs and whatnot using a bluetooth OBDII thing and FORscan. still need to datalog stuff while actually driving, but right now it looks like I've got a dead rear O2 sensor (given that it's reading 0.00-0.01V) and a wonky TPS- with the throttle closed I was getting readings of 0-2046, which seems... not right. neither of these things set a DTC, which is weird, but the RAP module has one for a communication fault having to do with the rolling encryption, which explains why sometimes my key fob doesn't work.

FORscan rules, especially since it's free.

Ford/Mazda/Lincoln/Mercury - specific OBDII scanner software. I've only just started playing around with it so I'm not entirely sure of what it's capable of or what its limitations are yet, going to try it out on my little sister's Fiesta tonight and see how well it works on newer stuff.
