But is built for an NA FS engine making about 170hp, better to go the miata direction, I've heard they're like glass.

The diffs, yes, but the subframe might be a good starting point.

I'm just curious to see the floor pan.

Spent the day refurbishing this cheap poor fitting ecarboy fiberglass grille. I need to find or make a better one. This style reminds me of Honda crap.

a 2550lbs MS miata making 270 wheel has a hp/lbs of 9.8lbs per HP. the wagon (3700lbs roughly) at that same power level is 14.2lbs per HP.
have you measured where the miata shifter will end up if you put in the miata trans in a pro5 engine bay?

a guy did this swap already in his escort gt. he was making 545+hp and got rid of the miata trans and replaced with rx-7 since it kept breaking.

thats in a lighter car so if you have big goals lik ehe did then switch to rx-7 setup like he did or its just gona break if you go to the track and get traction on a hard launch.

i like the idea of 300 flywheel with a miata trans. something tells me that would be a sweet ass setup, but how much firewall needs to get cut and where is the shifter gona end up ? close enough to use or will it be behind the center console?

i have been thinking of awd/rwd swaps alot lately as well. Seems like it would be much easier if there were sport20 rear ends locally available.

I've been pretty busy lately and have yet to start plotting anything serious. I really need to get a hold of a junk Miata front subby/supension to build a custom tube frame from that suits the measurements that the BJ provides. Firewall/tunnel area will get chopped and replaced where its needed. I have a perfect example of a RWD BG conversion 45min away @ STP. The BJ isn't all that different from the BG as far as all that goes. I definitely plan on pushing the BP to 400+.. however, it's not being built for drag racing only. It will still be daily driver that's capable of handling well on the street and at the track. Obviously it's going to cost quite a bit to make happen no matter what.. so progress will be slow to get going. I'm all for input, thoughts, and theory's on the subject. Go for it!

Are you planning on going all custom in the front end? What are your plans as far as spindles and steering rack? If you could get a hold of some 4WD spindles, and a rack, that might be an easy solution to get you the clearance you need while maintaining proper bump steer geometry.

More details on the yellow BG! Is it just setup for drag racing, or can the thing corner too?

He seemed to be hinting at a Miata front end in his most recent post.

If I have to go completely custom to avoid headaches, I will.. but with that being said, I'm really curious to get some measurements from the Miata front suspension.
That yellow BG would be an EGT. One of STP's shop cars. It's old news these days. These pictures were taken by lowkeygt awhile back. It's strip only and from what I've heard the steering is sketchy as hell on it. Pretty sure it's running a custom 8.8 in the rear. I need to go down there soon to talk to one of the guys about welding my manifold up.

What you should do is try and find a 6 spd miata that was in a really bad front end collision to use as a donor car. Then take the transmission, driveshaft, shifter, rear end, rear suspension, and maybe some of the front suspension if it's any good, and whatever else you want, and then part the rest of the car out, then scrap the shell. That way you don't have to buy everything seperatly, plus you can get all the little bits really easily.

Started pulling the dash a bit more to get the airbags and associated junk out. Still haven't done anything with the rain rails.. Ordering a set of "temporary" 15's for it this week. Did I already mention that I really hate the FS?
