if you want to prime the fuel pump with FP signal, pin 37 of db37, you need to run an external wire to the green wire on the fuel pump relay standing on the PCM. That green wire is a ground, while the crank 1C signal (violet) is 12V+, that's why you have to build a circuit to make it works.

Another alternative to use fp pin 36 is to run that signal through pin 2K LG/R (light green/red) wire that is used for the volume airflow signal (assuming you removed the airflow) and at the airflow connector you got the LG (light green) wire that goes back to the fuel pump relay and you just have to connect these wire together. I think it's the easiest way, tell me what you think??

backfeeding 12v into the relay its the simplest way, im not sure why you want to change things up the miatas have been running this way for years. im sure theres a bunch of ways to do it, but this is easiest and uses whats there, no using other wires when you dont need them.... just backfeed the relay and pull the st fuse , and be done....

I don't want to change things, miata guys do right, though I'm just giving an alternative for someone who has less skills in building blind new circuit inside MS. I'm saying this cause I just gave a thumb to a friend who installed a MS1 V2.2 in an mx3 bpt, he didn't knew about the fuel pump thing and he was refering as your post. Once installed, his car never started so I showed up. I though this would be a good thing that I mention what I did to solve his problem so please don't get mad.

i personally do not use the backfeed due to bringing noise into the case, i know that this is not an issue for everyone but i think it makes it worse on our cars. I basically just spliced into the ltgreen wire at the fuel relay and brought that to an unused pin on the wiring harness plug and used the MS to ground.
