It'll be a mostly stock KL with high compression pistons. Nothing crazy.

Originally posted by zoom-zoom View PostThe EGT g series and capri xr2 g series are always referred to as the same, but they are not, I spent weeks trying to get my xr2 transmission together after I put an mfactory differential in it because they are NOT the same like everyone says. Best bet is to just buy the transmission you need for your motor, you will spend as much or more rebuilding and getting the custom machine work done, and with a jy tranny, usually you get a short warranty incase it doesn't work.
There are also differences in the way the engine is clocked, or the way the differential is clocked, however you want to look at it, between g series transmissions."Discontent is the first necessity of progress."

Your talking about swapping KIA and Mazda clutch housings and case/internals....if there are differences between the Mazda case, and the ford/mercury case, then KIA starts making a third version, you really think it will be identical in every way? If I were a betting man I would say the halves will swap, and the gearsets/primary secondary shafts/reverse gear/differential line up with the same holes. I'm just trying to let the op know that, from experience, I know even putting the same transmission back together 'right' requires new shims, then seals and bearings if you want to go the extra mile, and good luck sourcing the parts without paying a dealership. There's more to 'just swapping' housings, even the mounts will probably be different.Last edited by zoom-zoom; 05-05-2012, 01:01 AM.1993 Ford Festiva - Fiona/b6 swap

putting any tranny together right requires the same so your point there is moot."Discontent is the first necessity of progress."
