Think I've decided on the next vehicle

I need your input on this one guys, I've been thinking about it for a while.

I've been keen on getting myself into a rwd or 4wd Mazda to have some fun with, so I've come down to one vehicle.

1st gen Kia Sportage. WTF!!!!!!!! you ask?

Well technically it's a Mazda Bongo chassis, looks almost identical to a Subaru Forester (that'd mess with ppl), and is powered by the elusive FE3N engine, connected to a Mazda transmission.

Plans would be as followed. (general, details left to imagination lol)

    stage 1:

    -shortened shocks
-slam the thing as low as the suspension angles will allow me too (probably around 2")
    -wheels/tires
    -retrofit poly bushing
-fidanza adj cam gears w/ proper FE3 cams
-full face clutch (somewhere around 300hp holding capacity)
-fidanza flywheel (they make FE3 ones, right?)

    stage 2:

-custom tubular exhaust manifold (woot weirtech!)
-some random turbo (probably a .63 exhaust side kinda day)
    -larger injectors
    -adj fuel psi regulator
    -AEM FIC
    -FMIC setup

    stage 3:

-convert 4x4 to RWD (WTF? we only got 4x4 models here in Canada )
    -RX7 trans with b2200 bellhousing
    -1pc driveshaft
    - ditch the solid rear axle for independent, and LSD (thinking of OEM toyota rear end, iirc mk3 Supra had a 3.9 LSD rear end )

then it'll keep going from there.

Basically a street Sportage, vs the typical 33" mudder off-roader style lol. I have yet to see a street version of a modified Sportage, so I think it'd be a fun undertaking. Obviously this is not my race car, it'd be the daily.

that pic is actually a BF Ute if you look at the bf pics thread they have some info on it. Very cool indeed!

I would just suggest picking up a 95 so you don't have to deal with the questionable OBDII electronics people have had issues with on the sportage.

I wish we had the 95 model here haha, it's only 98+ in Canada hence the reason I'll be using the FIC, it's ODB2 friendly so I should be ok for the rest

Also... I'd suggest water to air intercooler like they have pictured (maybe smaller scale though). They are a little more initially, but will not need upgrading and reduce pressure drop across piping.

I agree with this. Sounds like a badass plan.

I toyed with a similar idea for a while, but the OBDII pissed me off. I am still keen on a 3sgte rav4 though. '97s can get away with MS a lot easier.
