im surprised you got anything to move with the 12 ton press. I've maxed mine a few times. wish to god i would've bought a 20 ton so I could do gearsets.
Yeah, the press is quite interesting to use.. Sometimes I wonder if it's all gonna explode as I have the press preloaded.. I haven't had any issues so far other than the obvious haha.
Pretty exciting to have that as an option. I'll post up when I receive the endlinks and do some test fitting.

I was thinking yesterday about making control arms with rose joints but not sure how to go about doing it

There are some sets of custom lateral arms available with heim joints and lots of adjustability, but I feel like I am in too deep with the mx3 parts and whiteline bushings to make a purchase such as that.

In other news, I've done work on the 2.4 intake manifold, blending the transition where the kia manifold ports meet the bp flange. It's not a direct match up on all the ports, so some work is needed. I did all my work with sanding wheels on a 1/8" mandrel in a dremel on low speed. I touched it up with 220 grit, and 400 grit by hand.

After that I let the manifold soak in a strong degreaser overnight.

Followed up this morning with paint on the throttle body and intake.

nice job cleaning up the ports. I think you'll like the long runner kia version better.

Indexed new iridium plugs for the build. All ground electrodes facing the exhaust port. Takes a while to get it right. Some of the photos you can see the blue marker on the plugs I used for reference as I switched out shims.
I also built a Hide-a-gauge for my wideband so I can transfer it easily from car to car.

I have been itching to get the mx3 lateral arms installed, and I feel like today was nice enough weather to do so. It gets rather hot here, around 110 in the summer months, so it's wise to spend your time in the garage before 2pm.

A few notes about the install. It was fairly easy getting everything lined up. I had to drop the rear subframe, which was easy with a flexible joint. The endlinks are from the 93-01 altima/maxima for their front sway bar. They are fairly close to the correct length for the addco 22mm sway bar, a little shorter than I had liked but doable with a hydraulic jack applying pressure to one arm of the sway bar. I did not like the quality of bushings I received, so I ended up salvaging my energy suspension endlink bushings. Speaking of bushings, the whiteline mazda gtx bushings and sleeves are compatible with escort gt long bolts.
Other than that, simple as pie. I can visually see the negative camber increase. Before the mx3 parts, I had 7mm spacers on my rear hubs for the enkei rpf1s to fill the wheel wells. Now I do not need them, which is for the best as I have heard spacers snapping wheel studs.. Haven't had time to test out the setup, but I will report back when I have some results!

Here are comparison photos of the lateral arms as well as some photos of the swap. You can see an increase in length from escort to mx3:

i really like those endlinks. nice find! the mx3 rear arms are +15mm wider FYI

Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for supporting my build so closely. You've been cheering this on for a long time, even when I switched build routes.
The mx3 lateral arms (and no adjustments to alignment) added a lot of snap oversteer to the car (and negative camber to the rear) which makes it touchy in the corners. It is corrected by adding throttle like most fwd cars will react. I feel like the snap oversteer preloads the suspension for the corner, but at the sacrifice of corner entrance and exit control. The 205/50 yokohama s drive tires have a lot of grip and have not lost traction yet.
I have run the car through a number of old highways in the southern Utah mountains to test it, and I feel like the car is very capable but needs refinement. Perhaps a zx2 front sway bar to offset the addco 22mm on the rear, and a good alignment. I have not researched much on the compatibility of the mx3 GS front control arms, whether I will encounter axle bind or not. I have also read about the rx7 fc ball joints fitting with modification to the stock steering knuckle or by swapping zx2 knuckles for they are the correct bore for the rx7 ball joint.

I swapped out my 45° intake tube for a 90° as well as a 90° coupler, and I have noticed a much better throttle response and some low end torque (which is hard to come by with low compression and cams) from this setup. Perhaps the added restrictions creates a swirl effect with the incoming air.

Went on a cruise with my car club to have breakfast, enjoy some twisting backroads with our sport compacts, and a reservoir to fish at.

The front MX3 arms are pretty straight forward and no your axles wont bind but your tie rod ends will be adjusted out with about 1/2" thread left. The other problem you may encounter is the front sway bar hitting your subframe on corners or hard bumps due to the endlink design of the BG when used with MX3 arms, which the solution for that is to also switch to an MX3 front sway bar. I have been meaning to ask you how you like your new rear brake upgrade after some seat time with them.
