    95 egt race car build

It's mini stock class and the rules are pretty stringent. max 150 advertised hp and no bigger than a 3.1L v6. It's wheel to wheel racing, paved circle track with hard banks.

I started off with a $225 95 escort gt that had a burnt clutch and 210,000 miles.

    trans out...

    What the clutch looked like...

New centerforce clutch back in that I had laying around...

Fixed a lot of crap like the fuel filler neck, fuel filter clamp, head lights, all the nasty dash squeaks, fallen shifter, e brake cables and set up the rear brakes properly. Deleted the cat, b code vaf, added 4 degrees of timing and took it out racing. Never did any work to the suspension as I have never raced before and wanted to try it before I got into it.

came in 2nd place in both my first races and 1st in the last race. I am hooked. I was singing at 7500 rpm in 2nd gear so stepped down a size in tires. Also added some camber to the front passenger tire

    Before...

    After....

This should allow me to run in 3rd gear the whole track and still have the power.

I also deleted some unnecessary stuff under the hood. Like a/c, cruise control, and the complete windshield wiper system. We are not allowed to gut the interior unless the car is caged which it isn't yet.

I also added a magnaflow fart pipe off of an mx3. it now sounds like a pissed off weed wacker at 7000rpm.
Too many vehicles - 2006 ram 2500 5.9l currently 600ish whp (universal ride) - 2000 jaguar xk8 convertible only 120,000km (windy ride) - just acquired 95 egt 95,000km (new project) - other 95 egt brought back from the dead (bomb around ride) - 2000 zx2 s/r 122,000km (circle track race car) - 2000 f150 lightning supercharged 4x4 (been sitting for about 4 years) - 1984 mazda b2200 with the 2.2 perkins diesel (just a sweet ride). Pretty sure I have a few more sitting at the farm. Always built. Never bought.

did you consider going UP a couple tire sizes? if it's a short track you may find you want to stick to second

Yes i did consider that but you cannot run any wider of a tire than what came on it from the factory. 185/60/15 is stock for this car. You can however run a narrower tire ie 175/xx/xx. I also dont have any taller tires that are 185 series lol. I did have these 2 185/60/14 tires mounted balanced on 4x100 rims already though. I am totally new to this and the guys stopped giving me tips after I beat them all in the last race. My thinking is that the camber in the front tire is going to help me hold the corner and at higher speed. I was at 80km (50mph) coming out of the corner and up to 105km (65mph) by the end of the straight. It's going to be a trial and error thing

The restrictions are tight and enforced. Stock bottom end, stock head, no milling of the head and no porting down to the vin number. Stock suspension. Stock sway bars front and rear. If your car didn't come with a rear sway bar from the factory you can NOT add one. Stock intake and exhaust manifolds down to the vin. Intake from throttle body to air filter is free. exhaust is free after the manifold but must incorporate a muffler. You are allowed to have up to 1" off camber on the wheels as measured with a carpenters square (I've got 7/8" gonna add a tad more). Their goal is to have the cars as equal as possible.

Had another race last weekend and my sister made a video of the race I won this time. There were 3 races 15, 15, and 25 laps. The competition is so close right now its crazy. On our 25 lap race there was .003 of a second between 1st and 2nd and <1 second between 1st and 4th.

Here is a video of that race.

Mini-stock racing class at Kingspark Speedway Pilot Butte - #24 Chad Gottselig wins on the final lap (video of last 3 laps of the race)

Most of my junk I took a picture of as well. 5.4L swapped lincoln town car. 96 mx3 GS and 5 Ford escorts lol. Not pictured is my 2 trucks
