Forgot to lock my subaru last night. Somone needed my gps more than I apparently. Also took a USB cable. Left the touchscreen dbl din radio and stack of blue ray/dvd's for the kids. Oh and they left my ray Ban sunglasses, as well as my wifes sunglasses, the change in the little tupaware box, like 4 bag chairs and a sealed box that had like 300 bucks worth of 31 bags my wife just ordered lmao. Freaking nuts. Stupid crackhead I guess.

replaced the PCV valve, added rear speakers, and pulled the headliner so I could vacuum off all of the old foam yesterday. glued new fabric to the headliner and chucked it back in before vacuuming the car again.

replaced the serpentine belt and wiper blades, tried out some carpet powder stuff designed for removing pet smells, and used a convenient curb to get an idea of how my new wheels will look at a ride height somewhere close to how I want it. it good.

picked up the fiesta from the dealer this evening. the driver side skirt was came loose during several hot days over the summer (black car). unfortunately it looks like the body shop painted it the OEM color code, and didn't bother to match the 3 year old paint on the rest of the car. you can't tell unless you know to look for it. guess nobody cares about doing a good job anymore.

Replaced things I never in all my born days I woulda thought would concern me...Like say frinstance... owe noez, my seat massage and active side bolsters aren't working! Like, wtf. But then I recall that I drank the koolaid and have this ridiculous bahnburner limo. Trace the problem to a bad seat pump and spend a hunne4d bux on ebay and get the seats working again. Then the dash lit up with a esp not working warning, accompan8ed by a dragging rr caliper. Hmm. Turn the nannies off and drive with some care, then plug the car is so it can tell me it needs a new steering angle sensor
Steering angle sensor? WTF? Traction control nannies need to compare steering angle with yaw sensors and wheelspin sensors and who know whatall else. So 100 bux on a new steering angle sensor and an hour in my garage. All I can say is these fancyass modern cars are very effing complex. Good thing this sled is so hysterical to drive...

changed the oil on Grandpa Gold the other day, discovered I either have a massive oil leak (unlikely, given I'm not really down on oil and it doesn't leave puddles anywhere) or I have one that's showing up at higher rpms and dripping onto the axle and spraying everywhere. ordered a new VTEC solenoid gasket/filter, since that seems to be a common problem and would explain it.

put a Grip Royal wheel in the 240 to replace the Momo, hooked up the battery, and fired it up on the first try. pretty awesome for a cheap motorcycle battery on a car that hasn't even been touched since May

                      Time to revive the thread.

I haven't done anything yet for today, but I'm going to coninue painting now. Yesterday I painted the front part of the horn on the 411, and started with one wiper arm. Now I'm going to finish the wipers (still wondering if I shoudl put clear on top, probably will). I'll edit pictures in a bit later.

Once that's done I'm planning to start doing the bumpers on the 323. I just need to figure out what paint to use (rattle cans, I'm not comfortable with a spray gun).

Looks good. What kind of prep and what kind of spray did you use?

For prep work, I just sanded everything with 400grit sandpaper, and the paint is Rust-oleum silver caliper paint, and high-heat clear (I had both lying around at home). The main reason why I painted them was to fix the rusted tips (where the wiper blades attach).

I'm still curious why spray paint always leaves that texture unless it's polished, even though it's very smooth to the touch.

Orange peel. Its kinda normal for a rattle can to do that but it also depends on how close your spraying to the item your painting. Get to close and you will risk having runs but turn out smoother and too far away and it will only mist it and make the orange peel worse. Best thing to do to remove it is sand with some 2000-3000 grit paper afterwards and then polish it.

That's not orange peel. I still need to polish the orange peel out when the paint is fully dried, but that's almost a metallic-like appearance in the base coat (not metallic paint). I always make the final coats very wet to reduce orange peel, but of course it still has some.

Polishing removes that appearance completely, unless it has clearcoat on top (in this case I decided that I wanted to keep it, hence the clearcoat).
