    *** 323Permin's Ride ***

( This is CP member ^^ "CrazyCanadain" ^^ as a test pilot during one of the summers Auto-x events )

First off a little history ... its started in 1987

When I was 16 I test drove a brand new 1987 GTX with the intentions of buying one.

I really wanted that as my first car, but even back in 1987 if memory is correct the price was close to $20,000 grand.

At 16 I didn't have that sort of coin. So I had to settled for a brand new LX model. It was still one great car and handle well for a stock ride. Later on in life I sold it and a while later I bought a 1986 323 GT model. I wish I had keep that one it was mint when I bought it and even when I sold it.

I always dreamed one day of getting a GTR just like everyone on here :0)

Its only later in my life now I have the time and funds to build what I have started and dreamt of driving...

So it started off with a 1993 323, with a 1.6L SOHC w/auto box. It was gutted of all the suspension, motor, transmission , engine bay harness.

Then I found a donor car, a 1990 Protege "Canadian GT" with a 1.8 DOHC BP , 5 spd box.

It was perfect for the swap, so I started to gutted all the suspension, brakes, motor, transmission and engine bay harness.

I fully restored and upgraded all the suspension of the 1990 Protege and installed into the 323.

The motor was fully torn down and rebuilt. A Kia K24 transmission was sourced and it was torn down and rebuild.

My vision was to build a Mazda 323 GT, which Mazda, for whatever reason never imported to North America.

But take it one more step and make it as is " MazdaSpeed 323 GT " as if they made a special factory model.

With little items to make it distinct a Mazda Speed model :

    - " MazdaSpeed " logo on the intake, instead of the factory "injection" decal, hence the custom CNC'd piece which took its place.
    - " MazdaSpeed " logo center caps on the wider 15x7 wheels
    - Shorter throw shifter
    - Momo Steering Wheel
    - GT Bucket Seats
    - A " MazdaSpeed " equiped Dash plaque.

Here is a Factory Brochure I started with

As you will see by the build thread its along list of what went into the car to this date and it still continues.

Here is a list of what is on the car :

    Engine/ Transmission :

    - 1.8 BP DOHC , re-ringed, ACL race rod and main bearings fully rebuilt and detailed with custom touch of
a one off CNC'd " MazdaSpeed " on the intake.
    - Transmission Stock Kia with Exedy stock replacment clutch, with all new bearings and races.
    - GTR Clutch Slave w/ Cork Sport stainlees steel braided clutch line
    - All four engine/trans mounts are "AWR" w/ 95 Durometer bushings
    - larger aluminum radiator
    - HKS replica Mushroom Air cleaner
    - Cork Sport Bronze Oilite shifter bushings
    - B&M Short Shifter
    - Stainless Steel Steel Header, High flow Cat, 2.25 exhaust from to back to front, Magna Flow Muffler.
    - Cork Sport urethane exhaust hangers

( Still to come and in the process of buliding a full GTR / VJ23 turbo motor swap, with LSD and Heavier Spec Stage 4 clutch )

    Suspension & Brakes :

    - K-Sport GT Pro coilovers with Camber / Caster Top Plates
    - EBC Slotted and Dimpled rotors , EBC Green Stuff Pads
    - Cork Sport Stainless Steel Braided Brake lines
    - Factory Front GTX /GTR Strut bar
    - Ultra Racing Adjustable rear Strut Bar
    - Pierce Motor Sports 4 point front tie bar
    - Pierce 2 point rear tie bar
    - Super Pro Polyurathane front arm bushings
    - Pierce Motor Sports Rear Lateral Links
    - Larger Addco Rear Sway Bar w/custom made solid ends links
    - Stock GT front Sway Bar w/ Energy Suspension end links
    - New ( not Reman ) Rear Calipers
    - New ( Not Reman ) Front Calipers

    Body / Interior / Exterior:

    - Interplay two hole front bumper
    - TYC Clear lens head lights and Clear corners
    - Familia Center grill
    - Colour Matching Door handles
    - Colour Matching Power mirrors
    - Duck bill upper Rear spolier
    - Custom one off center caps for American Racing wheels with "MazdaSpeed" logo
    - Momo Steering wheel
    - GT front bucket seats ( similar to GTX model )
    - "MazdaSpeed Equipped" Dash Plaque

( Still to come and in the process of refinishing a lower GTR Spoiler , GTR Rear bumper with lip, GTR Hood Vents )

This list could go on for every and as the build progressed there were a lot of small items which were restored or replaced with new OEM parts ...

I have a large stack of receipts I stopped adding up and even looking at LOL

If you want to see more details and have some time to kill here is my work thread ...

    More to come ....... Summer 2013 !!!

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.
