    2003 MSP KLDE Swap

Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of swapping a KLDE into my 03 MSP and have run into some problems with wiring. I knew it was going to be the hardest part but I really have no idea what I'm doing and can't seem to find too much on wiring specifics of this swap. The donor car for the swap was a 96 (if I remember correctly) Ford Probe GT so I was planning on using the harness out of that. I was told it would be plug and play, so to speak. I've pretty much detached all the wires on the old harness except for one inside that runs under and into the dash. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with using a probe wiring harness in an MSP swap. Any advice/tips etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Click image for larger version

Welcome to the club. I can try and help you out, although I think the obdii Probe harness is a bad idea. What specifically is the issue?

Thanks for the response. Sorry, I was mistaken before. It is an obd1 harness. I haven't run into many problems so far but just taking out my old harness I'm seeing plugs that aren't on the probe harness. The only one problem I have run into so far is that theres a wire on the original harness that runs under the dash. i wasn't sure if I should just cut it or try to get to it. I'll post a pic up here. Not sure if you'll be able to see it though.

I left my original protege ecu in the car to control a few things.

Well, that would be the easiest. Not the most elegant solution. I ran mine for a couple years that way trouble free. If I we're to do it again, which I might someday, I would use a KLG4 with the entire KLG4 electrical system. It is possible to make it emissions legal that way.

I've wired up a KL in a P5 in an afternoon before

                1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
                1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Okay thanks. Nice thing about Ohio is no emissions testing. How did you get the probe harness through the firewall? just cut the grommet and force it through?

@Damkid Did you keep the stock wiring harness in or pull everything and replace it? Like what did you do?

What would be the best method of cutting out wires? should I get it running and then cut what I don't need? or visa versa

I don't think I removed a single stock wire, lol. It was a mess, but mostly hidden, and it worked well.
