    Grandmas 1989 KE Ford Laser!

Bought this car a few years ago now, from a little old lady who only ever drove it on Sundays.

78,000km on the clock from memory, one owner, came with the original purchase receipt too!

3 speed auto, GL spec, with I believe the optional air con, and power steering fitted... B6 carby of course!

Unfortunately, it had spent the past 10 years of its life sitting outside, so the paint wasn't great, and almost every panel has small dents or chips in the paint, ah well!

ignore the fat battery, it didn't come with that

Of course, it needed something else... slightly bigger wheels? wider tyres? lower suspension with new shocks, and maybe a new rear sway bar, just for good measure!
I also found a set of extractors, and promptly painted them black, and fitted them... removing half the stupid emissions gear in the process

I replaced all the bushes with Nolathane at some point too, along with camber bolts, because race car! only to find that the rear wheels had about 3mm clearance before I even tried to add camber, so the rears were promptly removed!

Of course, with the improved handing and grip, grandma could never be happy with the performance of the B6 carby! :p

        So, out with the old!

Engine in, and running... I drove it around for a month or so, very occasionally, like this, while I waited for the FMIC and piping to arrive...

And a strut brace got added at some point, I forget! :p

And a bunch of other pics, that aren't the original intercooler install, rather the removal and refit, to move the radiator, so the air con compressor would fit, which resulted in me finding the top radiator inlet had snapped off, so I ended up with a fat radiator, that then didn't fit the stock fan properly....

                *sigh*

Of course, it also got a bigger exhaust at the same time too 2.5inch compared to the stock, ah, little one?

Of course, with more go comes more stop!

I ended up with turbo hubs, which after being fitted to the car, it turned out they were junk.

NO shims had been fitted between the bearings, and the two hubs didn't even match.... ended up with a seized wheel bearing while doing 70kph, still went in a straight line.... $100 for a tow truck though...

So I then ended up with another set of front hubs, seeing these were completely destroyed...

Disc brake rear end too, to match the fronts! of course

Drove it for a bit, then some 22V calipers came up for sale, so I jumped on them, after all, bigger calipers are bigger!

Before I got around to fitting the bigger front calipers, some slotted and dimpled rotors appeared on ebay for less than half their original price, so I ordered fronts and rears too! once again, in the theme of nothing going to plan, I ended up with front turbo rotors, and front non turbo.... argh!

SO, fronts are fitted, along with new brake pads, and bigger calipers, while I'm still waiting for the correct rear rotors to arrive, 6 weeks later.... I've got replacement rear bearings sitting, waiting, with a spare set of rear hubs sitting in pieces on the work bench...

Bigger brake booster and master cylinder? why not! 15/16th over the stock 7/8th (couldn't find a 1inch, there are no Mazda 929's anywhere! ever!)

To remove the replace the BB on the right hand drive Laser required me to unbolt the drivers side engine mount, and slide the whole engine forward about 2cm.... :/
