I was converting them to 1/2" so they can be used with the 3/4" rodends---they can certainly be opened up to the stock metric size though so you can run metric bearings.

Hey guys---hell of a week---my wife's mom had a mild heart attack last week and has been in and out of the ER/minor surgeries etc...I haven't been into the shop much/staying with my kids/working from home/ipads while my wife takes care of family stuff. We started welding up the bases last week and I had the guys cut up the rest of the units/material to cover everyone in the buy. This week they should finish up the other group buy/triangulation bars which puts these to the front of our project work. I should be back in next week and we'll start pluggin along again.Click image for larger version

That looks beautiful Jim! I'm getting quite excited about it. Sorry to hear about your MIL though, that sucks.

Sorry to hear about the family.

On a more positive note, they are starting to look like a subframe! Getting me all motivated to work on my cars. Keep up the great work. We appreciate it.

I knew I was on to something! Not "on something" like everyone I explained it to thought.

Thanks for the thoughts guys---her condition is stable, but she's not able to care for herself just yet---the chances of her getting her independence back look pretty good though! In the meantime I've been catching up on the shop work and have been putting a bit of time in on these---the first unit's just happen to be the BG ones because the jig was set up for that---once I get the BG's built to this form I'll do the AWD units---then the AWD's will go first getting the diffs mounted in the original order. They look beefier than the units I did a while back although at this point they only weigh about 14lbs. They'll get tabs for brake lines/swaybar which should be just a few ounces---then the mounts for the diff which should be substantial chunks of weight---I think we'll be under 25lbs---maybe closer to 22lbsish...Click image for larger version

Glad to hear she's stable Jim.

I have a question though. I know it was probably discussed somewhere, and I missed it. But will these subframes have the roll center correction built into them?
Before you criticize someone, first try walking a mile in their shoes. Because then you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes...

Yes sir-the track is increased and pivots brought up to correct/improve lowered cars.

neat seeing them next to a pair of your front LCA's !!

after this group buy we need to start something on custom spindles that aren't retarded heavy

Edit: how much of a track width increase jim??

I was thinking adjustable front sway bar through the foot wells or behind the rad support since the center diff output will end up right where the OEM sway bar would normally go.

I like the spindle idea, but there would have to be different fitments, as I'm keeping my brake setup for a while.

The progress on the subframes excites me.

The pivots are out about a 1/2" a side---so figure about half that because the strut top is a fixed point. It'll likely help with some camber and gain.

Hey Jim, just checking in to see if by chance you had any updates to share with us. Im having trouble focusing on one project car and may require a little assistance to keep the ball in the Escorts court, haha.
