Meet Margie, my GD 626 LX :)

Scored this puppy a few days ago, she's currently at the shop getting a safety done to see what parts I need to order...hoping it's just a few bits, should be from what I noticed.

1991 626 LX, power options, sunroof and working a/c!

These are the pics I quickly took when I first when to look at her...more coming soon.

she's pretty damn clean underneath too...

As far as I can tell she needs a right headlight, rear endlinks, door seals, and a FR wheel bearing (will be replacing both)

I've found some helpful info and part numbers that I'll probably post here for easy reference lol.

Factory Mazda bar – Available on 90-92 Mazda MX6 GT models. Purchase at dealerships or junkyards.
Part Numbers for Mazda OEM RSTB:
G311-28-913A Rear Strut Tower Bar $38.55
    G311-28-9Z0 Rt Bracket $8.85
    G311-28-9Y0 Lt Bracket $8.85

    Lower Tie Bar:
Factory Mazda – Purchase at dealerships or junkyards.
Mazda wants about $80 for the lower rear tie bar. (They call it a "performance rod".) Part number is G311-28-671B

    Polyurethane Endlinks:
    Energy Suspension – Front: 9.8118RC; Rear: 9.8120RC

No clue about the frame mount bushings for the sway bar though lol...gotta get a caliper on there and check the diameter I guess?

That's about the most useful stuff I could find so far...lol

If anyone knows if BG trailing arms will swap over to a GD/GE chassis that'd be most helpful as well, as I have 3rd gen Escort tubular arms that I could easily source some poly bushings for...

If you're all wondering "what are the plans"...

Basically a stock setup, with a few OE upgrades is what I'm looking to do. K&N drop in filter (if they make them still lol) and some Kingsbourne 8mm ignition wires and a tune up...

Poly bushings for the sway bars, OE rear strut bar/tie bar and some type of front strut bar, and I'll be going for KYB struts with OE springs so it'll still be all 4x4 stance until I decide I'm ready to lower if...haven't found many spring options for the car, although Vogtland is an option and I loved them in my GE 626...

Exterior will stay stock, may change the rims down the road, but have no current desire to do so...interior will be stock as well minus a short shifter, a leather shift/hand brake boot and some OE coloured floor mats (can't remember if she any right now lol).

Just going for a fresh, stock car that anyone can enjoy to drive basically. No modifications will be done to "increase" performance/affect drivability...so nothing like the BG LOL

Suggestions are 100% welcome, just keep in mind she's going to be mostly stock

Haha tell me about it, I was pretty surprised in the condition. Trailing arms have the undercoating peeling off, and has a hair of surface rust starting in the right rear wheel well lip...so that'll all be taken care of ASAP.

Looks like its in great shape. Owned quite a few of these gens over the years. I actually have a VERY rare Capella grill i imported for mine that i took off before selling it if your interested.

I know the 3rd gen protege trailing arms are the same and can be swapped. But i dunno about the older ones or not as ive never compared.

Sweet! 3rd gen trailing arms swap over to the BG chassis IIRC! Gonna measure the ones I have in storage tonight and see what I can find!

Got the report back from the garage for safety, needs that headlight I was talking about, and apparently now has a chip in the windshield which as per their report says "repair or replace" so I'm just going to repair it LOL

yes only 1 outer tie rod end lol, getting it on the road cheap and will replace basically everything after the winter time

After all the headaches with the GE 626, your gonna love the F2. Its a tank of an engine that really never fails as long as you keep up on it.

Nice score Jack! If that were mine, I would do an LE conversion, drop it an inch, and leave it alone.

LE conversion? Do tell more! I'm not going to alter the ride height anytime soon though...going to see how I like it in stock form and go from there. Worse case is I'll run the GT springs for that little bit extra.
