Well i got the car back. the guy failed to pay.
It picked up a few issues along the way:
              bent control arm(drivers side)
              a dented pass fender
              scuffs on the bumper
              rattling instrument cluster
cigarette burn in the drivers seat
              ETC.
              2 destroyed rims

I replaced the front lower control arms & balljoints. changed the front springs & struts(back to OEM) straightened out the completely bent front lower tie bar(no clue how the guy bent it so bad)

              changed the oil on it.
put on my 15x7" borbet BS wheels with some new winterforce tires
              Got it aligned.

& now im back revisiting how to eliminate the ABS/Brake light issue after pulling the main power fuse to the ABS module.

I have finally come up with a reliable solution!!!
              Here is the HOW-TO:
              HOW-TO-BJ-eliminate-the-brake-light-triggered-by-ABS-(gauge-cluster)

While i was in the guage cluster i also cut the ground to the high beam indicator & tied it to the rest of the illumination circuit so it could be dimmed (its at a really bad eye level)

finished doing some more mods to the gauge cluster.

Spray painted the plastic housing with a reflective silver paint.
almost doubling the light output back out. (if you've got ****ty lights, do what ya can)

I also removed the blockages surrounding the 2 center 194 bulbs allowing them to distribute light more evenly.
(did this prior along with installing Red 5050 SMD LED bulbs)

Added in the DaveB rings (curious how the most recent remakes fit- these were kind of ****ty fitment IMHO)

the outer clear plastic surround was rattling so i added 1 sided sticky foam around the perimeter to stop the rattle.

Nice work! Incidentally... I was at the p&p earlier & they had an 01... I like the wagon feel. The interesting thing is that the speedo cluster was in kph

It is, I think I'll go back today and grab a few items from the p&p, and snap some pics....
It looks like it *had* a killer sound system in it.. though it looks like it's been taken, it had window tint, and the red front sway bar which i might grab as well
What kind of transmissions do these things have?

Well, this is the condition it's in.. http://imgur.com/a/YNgnl ; It's so rusty you can see through the floorboard!

                            and the cluster:

So... would the g series from the 2001 p5 bolt right up to my 93 dx sohc? ..... think i better go grab a g series while i can... Would it be better to remove the engine/trans, then unbolt the trans, or can you simply unbolt the transmission w/ the engine in

unfortunately that G series won't bolt up to the BP motor at all. it only bolts up to the F series motors AFAIK F2/F2t/FE3/FS

still unhappy with the gauge cluster lighting.... so i did some more modding

well,i still wasn't happy with how bright the cluster was so i did some more modding.

i removed the t5 bulbs & hogged out the circuit board to fit t10/194 bulbs. then proceeded to add in solder extending out from the original hole for contact power/ground.

minor trimming was required for the light spreaders behind the gauges, but everything managed to fit just right.
