      From the looks of the mod, it is obvious that the original mounting point on the spindle was cut off and the bracket for the RX7 was welded on the spindle.

        Possibly but I am also 90% sure that the rx7 caliper will bolt on to a gtr spindle. I may have missed the part where it was said that he is not running gtr spindles.

          The amount of work involved for your swap should be similar to the amount involved for the bpt/bp engine swap in the BF chassis. In regards to what 4wd trans needed to fit the FS motor I'm clueless. Maybe an adaptor plate is needed but I'm not sure, probably someone else on the forum would be able to better assist with this query.

          I do suggest you make a post in the BF thread, that way your query would get better mileage and hopeful net you a positive response sooner.

            I made a similar post in another thread and some of that info would be useful here as well.

            Currently in the process of acquiring a BG GTX 4wd gas tank but its missing covers. I want to know if I can use the ones from the fwd BG gas tank or am I going to have to get a pair from another BG GTX gas tank?









            I met this individual by the name of Ben Townrow on the facebook page MAZDA BG CHASSIS GEARBOX CONVERSION. He's from Australia and knows a ton of stuff on the Toyota gearbox conversion for the Mazda, he also own a BG GTX sedan with the Toyota Rav4 drivetrain installed.

            The MAZDA BG CHASSIS GEARBOX CONVERSION facebook page have discussion and info about using a Toyota gearbox with mazda bp 1.8 engine.

              i dont mean to thread jack but what is the swap capability to a us standard protege will the drive train swap. ive read some very controversial things online and i have talked to people who have shops that build mazdas and suggest it will bolt in. just want to get some actual info if anyone still has any information thats existent on these cars.

                90% sure the BG FWD pump covers/assemblies will fit.

                      Look like I destroyed my first Mazda gearbox since being in the game 6 years now. Since taking acquisition of this car in August 2014 the car never felt as lively as my bpt swap bf 323 gt, I thought it was probably due to weight difference of the BJ vs the BF. I eventually found out it was a fueling issue with the adj fpr & a vaccum leak which rear its ugly head about a week ago. I addressed those problems and for first time in 4 of months ownership the car felt alive, I went to the country that day and was enjoying the new feel of boosting without issues.... no high rpm launch involved, just move off in 1st & punch it in 2nd. While on the high way I noticed that the car was jumping out of 5th @ 110km/h and when I put it back into 5th it would jump out around 1 - 2 minutes after, when I reduce my speed to around 80km/h it didn't do that so I stayed within that limit.

                      The car was parked during my stay in country and on the day when I was leaving I started to hear a loud clunk, clunk, clunk noise coming from the gearbox whenever I made a right turn or left turn while driving and when I straighten it up the noise went. I was able to get back into the city after doings a quick inspection to see if anything was loose and about to fall apart before continuing. Everything seem secured so I made my way to the city and that's when the noise started again due all the left/right turns in the city, then I was unable to drive in certain gears until I was unable to move in any gear. The engine starts and throttle like normal but when I try to select gears 1 - 5 or reverse the gearbox gives off a continuous clunk noise and don't go into gear. I still hear the noise when I turn off the car, put it in gear then start the car in gear. So far I've taken out the axles and inspected them and everything seems fine them (no worn spline visible). Next step is to take down the gear (which I wasn't looking forward to) to located the problem.

                      This would've been the right time to start my 4wd Toyota gearbox conversion if I had all the needed parts.

                          Small update.

                          I will take this opportunity to do my Toyota gearbox conversion. I'm still contemplating on doing the fwd or 4wd swap as I am yet to acquire all the parts for the 4wd conversion and the downtime without my car is starting to get to me.

                          So far I have the following.

                          4agze gearbox with the 3s bell housing fitted (was originally acquired for my bpt swap bf)
                          Celica 4wd transfer
                          Shifter
                          BG GTX 4wd gastank minus the fuel pump covers.
                          Already have the machine shop lined to build the adapter plate and modify the crankcase (for the 4wd route). I would prefer to purchase one that was up for sale from the then group buy on this forum if I can still get in touch with the/a seller for adapter plates.

                          I need the following.
                          Driveshaft
                          Axles fwd or 4wd for whichever route I'm going.
                          Fuel pump covers/holders for bg 4wd gas tank.

                          If a member have the hook up on the fuel pump covers/holders for bg 4wd gas tank, let me know.

                            Wow.... it's been awhile since I've last posted. Here's a small update on what I've been up to.

                            I've undertaking the task of converting a Toyota Celica 4wd drivetrain to my 4wd chassis Mazda Familia.

                            This post covers the engine, gearbox removal, removal of ST205 Celica torsen diff with axles from Celica rear subframe, removal & modifiying of Mazda disc backend.
