    88 GTX subframe question

Hello everyone, I am looking at picking up a 88 GTX, one of the current issues it has is where the front drivers side lower control arm bolts to the car, it has two "tabs" that the bushing slide into then a bolt goes through and a nut on the end. One of the "tabs" rusted and broke off flush. So I can make a new one and weld it in, or see what other cars use the same front subframe and swap in a new one.

I don't have pics at this time, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brandon

Prolly easiest to make a new one and wekd it in.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

      Would it be weaker?

Not if you do it right... Either way it'll be stronger then the way it is now

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Rear subrames interchange mostly, fronts don't. Clean the area up nice n shiny and gusset yer new tab. Cover it in POR 15 and call it good.

whoa!! saveable yes. altho that whole unit is pretty rough off. you can cut that cup section out of any BF/BG & re stitch it in place.

Alright but there are no interchangeable subframes for a BF 323?

Standard 323 front subs should bolt in. I'd replace all attachment points based on those pix, by weld or by parts swap...

No bolt in subframes for the BF..correct. That looks like a whole lot of stitching. How far back is the corrosion?
