Not sure what you mean by the purple injectors being too tall for the older fuel rail since they are no different in height from the old fat injectors. Those plastic body denso injectors are plug n play. I have used them as well as handful of other people, and they fit just fine.

My bad. They are exactly the same size. I think the difference is the angle they sit in the head. The protege rail has the mounting holes farther away from the rail. I'm just going to use the mx5 rail and extend my fuel lines.

Is the protege rail too far away from the head when you install them to allow it to bolt down on the black plastic spacers?

Ya. The mx5 head and rail puts the injectors angle more straight up and down so when I tried using the protege rail it makes them sit at more of an angle out, So when I tried to move it away from the head to line up with the holes the injectors where cock eyed, not sitting flat which pushed the rail up making me think the injectors where to tall.

I will post pictures comparing the two when I get home.

In this pic you can see the difference in the mounting tabs of the two rails. The top is mx5 which has injector plugs on the outside of the rail, bottom is the protege which has plugs on the inside between the rail and head. I checked my sephia parts car to see if it would work but it is like the protege rail.

The second pic is the hole I have to use for the return. Its on the bottom of the rail and there is not enough room for the protege pressure regulator to fit.

The first pic is the piece that came on the mx5 rail, it looks like a regulator but has no barb for vacuum line or return line. In the pic it is mounted to the protege rail to show that they interchange.

I'm thinking about cutting the protege regulator and using It to make a custom piece for the return.

Your car was originally an automatic then. The Kia manifold can be modified to accept the standard BP TB if you wanted to go that route.

ya my harness and ecu is out of an automatic. i was originally planing on modifying the tb to fit. But based on the kia and mx5 throttle bodys being the same, im goin to hit the junkyard and try to find a newer style tb with the offset holes and a 4 wire tps.

I believe what you need is a 99-00 Miata fuel rail. It has the flange for the pressure regulator at the end.

the thing on the bottom of the throttle body is the idle air control correct? has anyone used a different setup, like a remote one not on the tb? i found a tb off a mpv that is larger and has the same piece for the 4 wire tps but no iac on the bottom. while at the junkyard i also found a 99 and a 00 protege, both tbs where missing but the gasket is identical and the tb off the kia and mx5 fits perfect so if i can find one of those out of an auto with 4 wire that will be bolt on pnp solution.

oh and there is a 00 zx2 s/r at the junkyard i was thinkin bout snagin the struts for the eibach springs, the front sway bar with poly bushings, and the seats if they didnt say zx2 lol. anything else worth grabing?

You need to think about if the TPS input is the correct signal and if the iac from any other car can be controlled by the ECU your running. Just because it fits does not mean it will function
