Hello, everyone! I wanted to give someone local to Florida the chance to buy my Protege whole before I put the effort into parting it out and putting it back to stock as possible, which I frankly don't want to do. I bought a brand new 2014 Mazda2 for that very reason. I'm tired of crawling around on the ground, and constantly working on old cars, so I bought a hassle-free new one with a warranty. Don't get me wrong, I love the Protege, but I also love not wasting entire weekends on it. Other than small, but rather often, part failures, it's a very reliable car. I'll list pros and cons as well as a mod list and photos of the car. I can provide more detailed photos of anything in particular that you would like. Here goes!
Pros
-Reliable in-town daily driver.
-It's a modded BG Protege, win win.
-Never been in an accident, meticulously maintained and logged by original owner with service records, etc.
-All power options work. Windows, door locks, cruise control, etc.
-Recent battery, alternator, and water pump.
-New clutch slave.
Cons
-A/C system needs charging/conversion.
-Main rad fan doesn't work, running a/c system cools enough with it's fan for drive thrus/traffic.
-It's blown two of the small coolant lines below the tb/intake mani since I've owned it. They're pretty rotten.
-Paint, or what used to be paint, is pretty gnarly. Roof is primer, hood is black, the rest is faded green.
-Lots of dings/damage, mainly on the doors, from previous ownership.
-Needs a valve cover gasket.
-Cracked dash.
-Right turn signal/reverse lights don't work, regardless of new bulbs.
-Trunk weather seal is useless. Trunk area can get pretty damp in a long rain storm.
-Probably needs more than I even know about, but it's a decent car underneath.
Mods
Installed
-MX-3 fitment D2 RS Coilovers, less than 10k miles, in perfect shape.
-Tubular exhaust manifold (wrapped), custom catless mid-pipe, hacked up Pacesetter axleback from my old 323. Sounds pretty good, no rasp, light metallic sound around 3k rpm when cold since purchasing.
-AWR front engine mount. (95 duro) I think it's loose from when I swapped the clutch slave, so the car vibrates like mad right at 3k rpm.
-Bronze shift linkage bushings. Shifter still fairly slack, but tighter than with nothing.
-Blox weighted gear knob.
-BJ-chassis front and Infini rear tower braces.
-MX-3 Recaro buckets, one installed, one not. Small tear on driver side.
Not Installed
-Hawk HP+ front brake pads, new rotors, and ATE Typ200 Fluid
-AWR Rear engine mount. (88 duro)
Spares
EGT G-Series that was given to me, needs rebuild.
I have a few uninstalled maintenance items as well, such as a new O2 sensor and thermostat.
Photos
The car will not come with the TR Motorsports wheels in the photos. It will come on a set of E30 bottle caps that have junk paint, but tires with plenty of life. I will also be de-stickering it. The car currently has 151,XXX miles as it sits. Based upon the mods, and the modest condition of the car, I would really like to get $1500 for it, but don't be afraid to send an offer.
Thanks for looking!
