What size rotor is that and let me know as soon as you are ready to make a production run. I'm very interested to see what weight we can save.

These are for the BG 10" brakes.

There are 2 potential problems I have discovered though.
1: The rotor ring is slightly larger than a BG rotor by about 3-4mm so the rotor ever so slightly touches the inside of the caliper so that would require trimming, but I hardly see that as a major problem.
2: The second problem is that the friction surface is smaller for this rotor ring and so the only pads that will fit will be the pads for the 9" BG brakes or 22-13 calipers, but they fit and interchange fine with the 22-14 calipers. Obviously while not a huge problem, I doubt there are many performance pad options out there for that application if any and your losing some surface area.

The good part is this would be saving you 6lbs on just the rotor ring itself per corner. Add say 3lbs for the hat to be conservative and your still 3 lbs lighter per corner than a stock rotor and slightly lighter than running 9" front brakes.


I would need 10 people with a $50 deposit to make this happen.

If this works out I will be moving on to a stage 2 and possibly stage 3 brake upgrade depending on what can be done and what people want to see/be committed to being built.

Carbotech makes all their racing brake pads in the smaller 323 size. I'm running their XP8 pads right now. The slightly less aggressive AX6 compound should be more than enough pad for anyone running street tires.

That is good news then since it would only leave the minor issue of trimming the caliper.
