Ok, im not big on FB and thats because im 24 years young. But then again alot of people who are really into BGs aren't in the forums ( which im sure you are aware of, im in the FB group but i dont always check it as much as the forums) i only mentioned it if you wanted to make it a group buy. I like your idea, since its only to improve a good product. You are including many options as it is, especially if you are buying them in pieces, depending ones setup or in one piece or pieces, not too many would go thru this trouble.

Eventually this will turn into a GB, but I don't want it to be a one time thing, but once it gets to that point I will have some of the members on FB spread the word for sure. Once it's made it will be available anytime after that and if anybody wants something made for a different car or sleeves made for a different kind of coilover another GB can be set up with a required number of people and a down payment to get everything started.

Keep in mind this will take a few months.

I am currently waiting for final quotes on building this stuff from 2 different suspension manufacturers.

After that I need to pick a company to go with and then send in all the parts so they can measure them and start building a prototype for test fitting.

Once I receive a prototype I will test fit it in my car and make sure it fits correctly and then turn it over to a racer who can put it through some durability testing to make sure it's not garbage.

If everything is successful then we can make a GB and get down payments.

Well I have bad news, I got an email from the manufacturer this morning telling me that they can not supply me with only 10 sets. They now are telling me that the minimum order would have to be 50 sets of coilovers for this to happen, and I know there will never be 50 people interested in this since its hard enough getting 10 people plus I dont have that kind of money to front on something like that.

Unless I can find another manufacturer willing to do a small quantity, this is dead. Sorry guys

I am still working on getting some aluminum M55x2.0 threaded sleeves made to retrofit Koni inserts to some models of JDM coilovers, in addition to trying to get a quote for some aluminum rotor hats that will fit Wilwood friction rings for some more affordable and OE sized 2 piece brake rotors.

Ok there is another item I am working on here and I am curious who would be interested in it.

How does having a set of 2 piece brake rotors made for BG chassis cars in the OEM 10.25" front rotor size for $250 a set sound??

Basically this would be Wilwood friction rings and hardware kit with 7076-T6 Aluminum alloy hats. Using Wilwood hats would make the price closer to about $450 but Wilwood does not make a hat that would work for a BG anyway......


EDIT: Racingbrake.com has 2 piece rear sport rotor for the Miata at about $$480 per set just to give another example

Already got about 3 quotes so I have a ball park figure already for the hats

As far as weight here are the specs that I could find:
Stock BG 10" rotor----12.56 lbs each
Wilwood friction ring----6.1 lbs each
I couldnt find a weight for the hats but they cant be more than 1-2lbs each I would imagine so for safety sake I will just say total assembled rotor weight would be 8.5lbs each.


So you would lose approx 4lbs of unsprung rotating mass per rotor, so 8lbs total. Find a way to mount some Wilwood dynalite 4 piston calipers and you could shave a few more pounds.

Also for discussion sake, Wilwood does have a solid rotor that specs out very close to the Miata sport brake size but it says its a steel rotor for drag racing only and not for street use. I cant see it being a problem being used as a rear rotor but IDK....

does wilwood offer slotted rings?

I have an 11" rear rotor on mine right now
& soon to have the mazda 6 front rotor ~11.1" I think?
I would love to put on some RX7 AL calipers or something a bit lighter then a brick of cast iron

They do offer slotted rings but not in the OEM BG size.
