    More Performance

    Currently my 1.8:
B8 crank from the SOHC 1.8
    MBSP
    01 Miata pistons
ARP rod bolts and stock cryotreated rods
    Lightened stock flywheel
BP4W head (I have yet to mess with the ex-intake cam mod or i also have a MAZDASPEED BP5A intake cam)
    Maxbore throttle body
    Cut intake mod
    3in intake
    8.2mm plug wires
    MSD Blaster 2 coil
    B code VAF
    Pacesetter header

This has to stay NA so turbo is not an option. I am looking into a full port an polish of my head an intake (around $450 ). I am also looking into a phantom grip LSD. I know it is not a true LSD but I have a few questions for people that have had them if you could PM that would be great. Is there anything else that I don't have to get a little more power?

From everything I have heard from people here who've bought 'em, the phantom grip is a waste of money. As for getting more power, there really isn't much you can do till you ditch the airflow meter and run standalone and ITB's and finish that with tuned headers. The head port and polish will help, a very little. Why no turbo, and what is the budget?

'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

I would add a cut Kia upper BP intake if possible with extended runners. It will require some work to utilize a stock TB but it can be done. Get the pistons and rods weight matched and balanced if possible, and if your adventurous it can be done yourself if you buy the a decent scale and rod hanger.

What do you plan to run for exhaust behind that pacesetter header?

This is not for a street car its for a race car and in the class i run, there are no turbos. It is supposed to be "stock' but everyone knows how that goes. Everything in the bottom end is already balanced. I am not familiar with the kia upper. I would think it would look different which means i wouldnt be able to do it.

What would be better, the ex-intake cam swap or just using the BP5A cam, would there be a need for an adustable cam gear. I don't know to much about them but would that be worth getting to then

The kia upper looks similar but not exactly the same, so it depends how much mazda knowledge the ones doing the checking have. I would just run the BP5A cam and be done. The ex/intake cam setup is a hassle to deal with and ideally needs a dyno and adjustable can gear to get it right. It never seemed to run the same 2 times in a row even with following the marks when replacing the timing belt. I hated it.
