Not much work done this past week, but I did the radio / antenna delete.

Repaired the damaged mesh and grills on the GTAe bumper and painted and fitted them. the bumper looks great compared to the original condition when I bought it - many hours of sanding and plastic welding has gone into this skin. Should have some decent pictures and progress this week coming.

Great! Never had an issue and the car sits for long periods at a time as I am working on it on and off. As these cars are low compression (small displacement), the battery turns the engine over effortlessly.

Thank-you. Lots of time to make the mesh, grills and bumper look "new" again. Looking forward to mounting it on the car.

Finished-up pretty much everything in the engine bay for the time being. I made new aluminum brackets (which I then polished) for:
1) The Cold air intake
2) Radiator
3) Intercooler
4) Main fuse panel and relocated the horn relay and coil

I also replaced most of the original fasteners with new stainless Torx or Allen head fasteners.

Tomorrow I will hopefully mount the GTAe bumper and wire-up the lights.

Got around today, to wiring up some new Hella horns which are louder than the weaker factory horns and I made some new brackets to mount them - for whatever reason, this bracket took ages, so my progress today was hampered by that, at least its done.



Also I mocked up the GTAe bumper and wired up all the lights, its starting to look like a car (from the front anyway).

I had a few hours tonight, so made a new lower intercooler bracket out of aluminum.

So the Euro bumper bracket that I bought from Piotr was too terribly rusted and had lost its structural integrity, so I am making a en entire new one from flat stock aluminum. I would have finished it this weekend but ran out of aluminum (doh!)..I have most of it mocked up including some of the more "complex" sections out of cardboard. I really enjoy this type of fab work, in the process there is a benefit from weight savings and a piece that will never rust.



I made all new brackets for the radiator and intercooler out of aluminum and here is a sample of the weight savings:
