So a few days ago I decided that now that our frigid winter is over, I'd like to fix the rust that's accumulated on the passenger side rear fender well. This is my first time doing any sort of bodywork, so we'll see how this goes!
Unfortunately I don't have a before picture, so here's one after most of the grinding was done.
And here's the upper hole patched up with 2 layers of fiberglass mat.
And here is just before laying some fiberglass on the bottom spot.
And here we are at the end of the day today, got both spots fiberglassed, but only the top was bondo'd (took 4 passes)
I have to say, especially being my first time doing this, I am ecstatic that I went from those huge holes, to what will be a pretty unnoticeable repair!
Tomorrow I'll hopefully bondo the lower repair, and then primer all three spots. A 12oz spray-paint can of color matched paint has been ordered and will arrive in a week or so.
Alright well today was a pretty productive day, I got everything done that I wanted to.
I bondo'd the lower repair and masked off the area:
Here it is after one of the two coats of primer, sanded before and after with 320grit
And the "final product" for the day:
I am going to have to purchase and use some filler primer, as there are some very slight imperfections, but so far I'm very very pleased with how my backyard bodywork is going
