So far I haven't really done much. I decided to finally have some fun with my protégé. I'm the only one that drives it and I hardly ever give anyone rides so it's becoming my project car!! :D
I want to keep it street legal. I want to keep a budget of about $2,000. I also want it to be an offroading creature lol.
So far I've ripped out the
- Headliner
- Carpet
- Rear Seat and Seatbelts
- Stereo and Speakers
- Most of the plastic paneling
- Half the dash
My Goals: while staying near the $2,000 mark
- Take out the AC unit as it doesn't work anymore and I never use it anyway
- Remove all the climate controls
- Remove the stock air box and resonator and replace it with a cone filter
- Replace my SOHC with the DOHC from the LX version
- Relocate the battery to the back to give myself a little room under the hood
- Find a way to give myself a total of about 4" or so ground clearance
- Replace wheels and tires with something more aggressive and worthy of offroading.
- Install a roll cage. A buddy of mine here at work knows welding so I figure he could help me weld up a roll cage if buying one is too expensive.
- Install some more lights on the front. (Can never have too many)
Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions are always welcome. Thanks guys and gals!!
