    Learn me Escort?

Hey guys, looking at picking up a 95 lx wagon. I dont know anything about these and was going to plan on swapping in my bpt. Problem I am looking at now is my wiring harness is from the MX3. I never actually got the mx3 on the road before it rusted out. The car did run for a while but not great. Protege LX BP, Escort GT Trans, BP26 ECU, MX3 B6D Wiring harness.

Would I be far better off looking for a BP MTX harness and re-pinning for the escort or ripping out the MX3 one and going through it.

Keep in mind I hate wiring and have no idea how to re-build a wiring harness.

Thanks, any thoughts or links to what I need would be great.

Possibly find a GT donor and grab the whole dash harness and everything would be plug and play. There are many that have just swapped over some wiring from the LX to run a BP. I would PM 300zxrb26dett...or whatever his screenname is. His name is James and has a worklog. Its the MZR worklog.

That is my thread on FEOA and it's also in the beginning of my worklog on here. If you don't want to deal with wiring anything then your best bet is find a GT parts car or the junkyard and get the engine harness and dash harness. The 2 plugs behind the ECU are where the difference is (black and white). Also you need a manual trans BP10 or BP09 ECU IIRC instead of the BP26 unless your planning for a turbo. The wagon has a lot of utility but that 1.9 is prolly one of the most gutless engines of all time especially when in the heavier wagon, with A/C on and an automatic trans.

Ha. Ya Im planning to use a basically stock gtx setup. The wagon Im gonna look at is already a 5 speed so that should cut down on some r&r. So basically, if my mx3 wiring had the engine running with the gtx ecu, then that should all be good and well. Its just the Escorts interior harness that needs some adjustment?

As long as your mx3 harness has the same connector plugs for under the ECU (very likely) then I would say sure. IIRC the stuff under the dash is for cooling fan and A/C operation plus some extra wires I ran for ECU power, clutch and brake signal, since the interior fuse box is a little different and some of those wires are routed different between LX and GT.

If anyone has those pin outs or a wiring diagram for 95 lx wagon they could pm me or post a link that'd be awesome. Thanks.

trust me on this: run the whole GT dash harness. running the wiring that needed to be changed between 1.9/ATX and GTR **** was a nightmare.

nah, sorry. we modified my stock harness, it required taking the whole driver's side fender harness apart. everything sucked. there might be more details/pictures in the worklog for the wagon, I can't even remember everything we did to it at this point.

Just double checking. When I swap to the wagon, I need to swap everything. Engine, Trans, axles, struts, calipers, rotors. Radiator?

why struts, calipers and rotors? Mazda radiator is different but should work anyway, I think lower outlet and filler neck are different? or just use the Escort one, shouldn't matter

Gotta change the hubs for the different axles right? The escort calipers and rotors should be the same as mx I believe.

axles aren't different spline count tho
