    Gotts2bme's worklog(s)

Not new to the BG chassis. Currently own 5 or 6 BG cars (all escorts). A 91 4 door lx, previously SOHC automatic converted to DOHC 5 speed. A 2000 zx2 s/r which is a dedicated paved circle track race car. And the new 95 EGT which is the closest to thing absolutely mint I have ever seen. Drove 10 hours round trip through a blizzard to pick this thing up. Took me 4 years of religious searching to find it. It was only for sale 45 mins when I called said I would take it. I dropped everything. Started the dodge and was definitely blowing a fair bit of black smoke on the trip up there. I didn't start it or pop the hood just handed him the cash.

On the way home when I stopped for fuel...

Was at the farm today and had to open the Quonset to see this car in the daylight and snap a few pictures of it. She will be sitting right there until spring likely.

I went all around this car and actually found a rock chip in the paint...

There are exactly 95,896.7km on this car to date. Only problem with this car is it is a automatic. That will change by time it goes on the road this spring. Plan is 5 speed swap with mfactory LSD for this spring and start building a turbo kit for next spring to push approx. 250ish whp.

Believe it or not I also have a BRAND NEW still in the box set of zx2 s/r tokico struts for this car too. Quite possibly the last known set on earth that will be going on this car as well. Will likely be matched with a set of s/r eibach springs as well.
Too many vehicles - 2006 ram 2500 5.9l currently 600ish whp (universal ride) - 2000 jaguar xk8 convertible only 120,000km (windy ride) - just acquired 95 egt 95,000km (new project) - other 95 egt brought back from the dead (bomb around ride) - 2000 zx2 s/r 122,000km (circle track race car) - 2000 f150 lightning supercharged 4x4 (been sitting for about 4 years) - 1984 mazda b2200 with the 2.2 perkins diesel (just a sweet ride). Pretty sure I have a few more sitting at the farm. Always built. Never bought.

Little update since last post. Oh have times changed. Got hurt at work a long while back. Open fractures the whole 9 yards. I now own 3 Canadian zx2 S/R's. I have even more EGT's and finally found my ideal donor for my mint 95. Car is a running driving BPTed 93 EGT 5 speed which I bought for 1000 Canadian Passos. The minty one is still sitting in the Quonset with s/r struts and springs under it.

This donor car has s/r struts and springs front and rear. Mx3 rear tie bar, front strut bar and some crazy dual front sway bar set up I have never seen before. It has the stock sway bar above the sub frame but also another sway bar mounted under neath the sub frame with special end links that join both bars through the same link.

FYI I am also dealing on an early 90's celica all-trac. Also in case anyone here cares the 01-04 escape 4 cyl 2wd trans bolts right up these cars and if used with zx2 clutch hydraulics works like factory only thing is its 28 spline diff. I built a bracket to use a 99-03 protege jack shaft and axle on the passenger side and a Kia sephia on the drivers side. 4.59 final ratio in race car now.

a 4.59 ratio would be ripping around. would be perfect for a NA car or a autox only setup

Forgot to mention the trans I got also had a limited slip in it. If any one is interested first gear is gone by about 22mph and its revving about 3500rpm in 5th gear at 60mph. The speedo is accurate as both vehicles have the same pink gear on the diff and green gear on the speedo cable.

is it common for that escape year range to have a LSD in it? or did someone add it?

I highly doubt someone added it. It is/was a base model escape. Now that's behind us if anyone wants to steal the lsd from it, it won't work. The focus ring gear and carrier have 14 bolts holding them together where these older g series have 8 rivets. I bought the complete trans for $200 on a limb that it "might" work. I stuck my nose into the out put shafts of the trans. Noticed LSD, tore it down to inspect. slapped it in an BOOM lost 6% power. If I wasn't beating 2nd and 3rd combined in my racing cams tuning porting polishing etc would be on the table (legal in my class) but for the last 2 years I'm on stand by waiting for everyone else to catch up. I am only .4 of a second off the fully built v8 cars per second. They made me pull my zx2 s/r struts and springs before I pulled my times.

1.83 2nd and 3.85 final in old trans gave me 7.045 torque multiplication to the wheels. 1.31 3rd and 4.59 final gave me 6.01 torque multiplication at the wheels but it brought me down in rpms multiplied by engine torque was a loss of about 6% in power. This is for a short oval track wheel to wheel racing. Shifting is a time killer and I was banging the rev limiter at 115kmh at the end of the straights. This trans gives me 127kmh in 3rd. I can put a couple lengths on people when we take off in 2nd though
