Cheap / Best Suspension for my 90 Pro ?

Hey sorry if this isn't aloud... But ...

Just getting started on my 1990 Protege. Want to get it freshened up and lowered down.

What would be the best and most cost effective method to accomplish my goals ?

Thanks in advance you your input.

do some searching. theres loads of information already posted in this forum. you should be able to answer any of your questions. and probably some you didn't even know of yet.

Suspension modification, like all modifications has a cheap vs good scale. Cheap, usually not good, and good usually isn't cheap.

MX3 H&Rs with Excel-G struts or whatever they're calling the GR.2s these days are cheap and good ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I will probably do replacement struts and tops with lowering springs. Unless some coilovers work out to be the same price .

the setup I posted is probably the best you will get that's not a full coilover, for about half the price.

Do you go with MX3 struts and top hats as well ? Or stick to the Protege equipment ?

Figured . I'm trying to meet up with my parts guy. He has a stash of protege and other assorted Mazda parts. Hopefully find some good used goodies.

I'm an idiot, but I've noticed in regards to all the cars I keep burning through that the go to bang for buck is Koni Yellows with GroundControls. KYBs were always a direct match or close second in the numerous suspension threads.

In terms of coilovers, from what I've gathered if you care about having a decent ride then look to spend at least 1k on coilovers. Otherwise get whatever Taiwan color you like.

You could be mad USDM and cut your springs too.
