the charcoal canister that mounts to the firewall? I'm pretty sure I left that in and put a check valve in there so the tank wouldn't see boost somehow

Fiddle fu@ked around with the car a bit. Got an Escort GT ECU put in and unplugged/plugged back in some connectors. And she started right up, purred like a kitten. Didn't let it run too long as I don't have a radiator in the car yet.

I guess my GTX ECU was the culprit. Ill open it up and see if there are any glaring issues but not sure what to look for. Any pointers for running with stock ecu? I've gotta find my wideband that I've managed to misplace.

if your running the NA ecu under boost you have to retard the timing dramatically. at least if you don't want detonation.... per my experience anything over ~6psi (vj20/equiv) with a NA ecu & no alterations equals detonation

Found my triple gauge pod. Woot. Going to re-wire them so its a bit cleaner. Glad I didn't have to re-buy these. Also, the MX-3 pod should fit the escort with a little trimming and work with the auto seat belts. I should have strut mounts for the zx2 here tomorrow so I can install the GC's that I've had in a box for the last NINE years.

I don't know how the hell anyone installs a FMIC behind the escort bumper. I ended up cutting the **** out of it and it looks janky as fu*k. But w/e. Ill re-visit that another time.

kinda depends on the intercooler and if it's the regular Escort bumper (which is hopeless) or the one from the GT

I hacked mine apart to get my intercooler to fit and then just stuck an MX6 lip on it to make it look less awful

I had to get rid of the Tow hooks but other than that it fit in there like a glove with a 2.5" core.

Did you just cut them or did you unbolt them?

Worked on it a bit. Got the gauges wired up, but my oil pressure gauge reads pegged all the way. Got the front suspension on, zx2 sr and ground control coilovers. They're pretty much at the highest they can be, but seems a good drivable height. Got it off jackstands for the first time. It's gonna go back up but I wanted to see it on 4 wheels.

Still a buttload to go. Gotta get a speed sensor, fill the trans, bleed the clutch. Still gotta get the exhaust welded and installed. Also the rear suspension. I've also got the mx3 interior to put in. Gotta fix the dropped shifter.

                                Etc etc etc.
