Ideas for top mount turbo manifold

I'm looking into a new top mounted turbo manifold for my wagon. The car currently has an hy35 on a skuce manifold. I was in the middle of rebuilding my turbo and I realized that my oil return is at a horrible angle due to the turbo being to low. At this point I feel the best way to remedy the problem is to get a nice top mount mani. Bp performance quoted me around $1200 and as much as I like the quality of his products I just can't seem to bring myself to spend that. Anyone have an idea or make a nice mani cheaper? How about re flanging say an evo or honda manifold?

    I'm buying parts i don't need, With money I don't have, To impress people I don't know.

Some people are like slinkies. They're not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

dumb question, but what about a Miata top mount?

also I *think* the Evo manifold thing has been done before and IIRC some of those are twin-scroll if you want to get real dumb with it

Im worried the miata top mount won't work because I won't have enough room under the hood because of the large compressor housing. Also if the flange sits towards the back of the manifold on a miata, it wiuld be right where the civic radiator is mounted.

I thought the evo manifold would work depending on cylinder spacing. Got any examples of people using them?

I don't, unfortunately, but I feel like an Evo ram-horn style manifold was something I'd seen on like the Laser or Miata forums. I wonder how close the SR/KA cylinder spacing is- maybe ask Bambi if he's got a spare manifold lying around you could take a look at?

Just cut a hole in the hood. I'll trade you some cutting discs for the skuce mani. Problem solved.

A local has been running a SS auto(something). He has had it for over seven years on his FE3 miata(note its a miata based manifold). He did brace it but it has lasted two motors, two cars and a big ass tree falling on the car.

He feels that his bracing has been why it's lasted. So ebay ones can work but I'd brace them.

SS Autochrome, I think that's who made the manifold I have on my S13. bends are janky AF but the manifold has held up so far

Yepo. I am about an hour north of him. I can't wait to see his FE3 miata back on the road, and kinda jealous of the attention to detail he has put back into that car. Granted he's been doing the "chassis" swap of what 4 plus years now.

4G63 parts can definitely be made to work. The cylinder spacing is close, like +2mm when compared to the BP spacing IIRC. Carlos re-flanges EVO intake manifolds for the BP, exhaust manifold should be a similar procedure....

Funny you mention that because I bought an intake from him yesterday
