    Forced induction and black smoke/misfire

1994 Ford Escort GT 1.8 VJ20 Turbo setup, Mazda 323 GTX stock intercooler setup, Bosch blow off valve, Y code airflow meter from a bp turbo escort, 330 cc injectors from a Mazda gtx, bp26 cams, bp26 ecu, stage 3 racing clutch, vaf downpipe, knock controller and knock sensor added in, 4 wire throttle body/position sensor added in. Stock O2 sensor.

Puffing black smoke. I've tried adjusting the tps as good as I can with no success, I've tried playing with the distributor in diagnostic mode with a timing light, it seems as if I'm getting to much fuel and not enough air.
Getting quite a bit of backfire and black smoke which means way to much fuel.
Lacking power and then it drives fine up until the turbo kicks in then it spits and sputters and backfires as well has a hard time idling. Could it be because I have the same O2 sensor I ran when I was using my bp05 ecu? Do I need a different O2 sensor? Or could it be bad adjustment on tps or some other sensor causing me grief?

Has anyone had this happen to them before or can relate and help me out? Been tinkering for two weeks with no success.

what's your boost gauge doing when it misfires?

also sounds like your air meter needs adjustment

Step 1: invest in a boost gauge
There plenty of low cost boost gauges on ebay and amazon. Either glow shift or prosprt for the time being while you save up for something good. I liked the AEM Tru-boost controller, It has built in boost controller but they are $300.

                Step 2: get a wideband
There are plenty of companys that make wideband 02. I have an innovated lc-1 and i love it.

                Step 3: Install said gauges

                Step 4: monitor said gauges

Step 5: dont tiuch anything without said gauges

With out a way to data log your fuel maps these two gauges will be your life line . If your boost is low you could increase it or tune the vafm by adjusting the mixture spring inside .

                I'm buying parts i don't need, With money I don't have, To impress people I don't know.

assuming you used the egt harness ? did you repin at the ecu for the tps? also check your ecu-engine temp sensor

Yes I used my egt harness, yes rep in at the ecu for tps but I'm looking for proper clarification on that with posts. I think my vaf isn't reading because it's not setup right with the wiring ( not spliced in the right area) . I just changed my ecu engine temp sensor with no cure there so it's defiantly however I setup my vaf/tps wiring

gonna go ahead and assume you didn't install a boost gauge or wideband before changing more unnecessary ****.
