what to do with dented aftermarket wheels? trying to sell car

Hey all, i bought some Rota Subzero wheels back when there was a group buy on another forum. Hit a pot hole a couple winters back and dented the lip of 2 wheels. I went back to the stock wheels. Now that I'm trying to sell the Protege, How much do you think i'd get for the Rotas set as-is?

1 quote i got for repair is $225 per wheel, which is nearly half of what I paid for the whole set. Should I repair the wheels and eat the cost, or pass it on to the next poor schlub?

Does anybody have any experience with wheel repair in the DC/metro area? Pics if that helps.Click image for larger version

A dented set of inexpensive aftermarket wheels isn't generally going to be worth much... as you found, wheel repair is $$$

I might be interested in those BFG's though, as long as they are not damaged... Size? Miles? Tread depth?

$225 per wheel is ****ing insane, I paid $80 to fix a Euroline bent worse than that

do they still hold air? sell them to some drift nerd as spares

if memory serves right, the tires are 205/45-R17. i might keep them as the stock FiST tires are 205/40-R17. the stockers are summer and UTQG 140AA so treadlife is not their strong point.

the wheels still hold air, but there's a rotating noise, and i'm sure theyre out of balance.

This DIY video shows a procedure used to carefully take a dent out of an alloy wheel. The dent was on the inside of the rim and the final result was not depe...

what if i fixed the aftermarket wheels, and sold them with the car? i'd keep the stockers and try to sell them separately. they're not in the best shape visually but still straight. is the juice worth the squeeze?

Wouldn't be worth it imo. That's 450 to fix 2 wheels. Honestly you'd probably only be able to sell the wheels for about that much, if you can even get 450 in good condition.

I think you might make more/have better luck selling the Rotas separately with the stock ones on the car?

or, since you live in a place where it snows, sell the car with both sets so the new owner can have dedicated summer and winter tires?

Jesus man that's huge cash. I know a guy that does em for 75 to 90 each and can match any finish.
