Automatic trans choices:Back to the land of 323/Familia.. need some input guys & gals

Yes, I am still alive. I still have the B6T-Tracer and the 323GT.

The 323GT is the point of the post.

I am in a position where the 323GT needs put into use, but has to have an automatic trans for the person using the car.

I've already turned the boost down, not worried about the trans surviving.

The question is: Any '88-'89 G-type auto w/converter obviously will work. I'm avoiding the Capri ECM controled trans as I've heard they are crap. Any other known 4speed OD trans known to bolt up to the B6T?

I need this swap in and done before Sept 30th. so time is a ticking.

    thanks Everyone.

Well its ironic it just about 1 year and one month later I am reviving my own thread.

I need an auto trans to put in the '88 323GT. I was able to push things off. But now have a son about to drive.

Does anyone know of a website or interchange guide for 3/4 speed automatic transmissions for Mazda B-series engines? BF or BG? escort? Toyota?

I have a Dallas based driveline shop that can help with custom CV/spline issues and help me keep the jack shaft.

Main thing is it has to bolt up. The CV's are easy in the grand scheme.

    Thanks.

There is a reason they did not mate a B6t to an auto trans. Try and find the 4sp auto that they put behind the B6 in the BF 323's. Might be easier to just swap in a B6, harness and ecu and an auto tranny from a donor if you can find one.

Honestly it most likely would be cheaper to just get a "new" cheap automatic car. I could see you dropping near $1k to do the swap and then have a transmission that won't really like to hold the power. That or if your son is physically able, too just teach him to drive a manual. Replacing a clutch after teaching him would be cheaper then most options and he'll have a skill that most youth don't have now days. =/.

I know when I was a youth, learning to drive a stick was one of the best things I did. It forced me to have to always watch traffic and not be distracted by my cell phone and friends in the car. I stalled a few times when I first was learning cause I got distracted :D.

Edit: won't let me put that in caps for some reason....
Second edit: now it will for some reason. I don't understand.
