A couple new updates. Both locally and through the magic of facebook I acquired 3 junk mazda turbos, 2 vj14s and a VJ5. Im unsure of what the specs are on the 5, but I do know it has both a larger cold and hotside. Using the 3 turbos, Ive made a hybrid vj14/vj5. using the 14 hotside and 5 cold. I also ordered a new steering wheel from one of our other forum members, so im expecting to get to working on reinstalling the engine this next week.
    Pics soon to follow.

Did you get the turbo balanced?

I balanced the shaft/impeller together as a set myself, yes.

which measurements would you like? i can grab all the numbers off the housings for you. I do know side by side to the vj14, its noticeably larger on both hot and cold sides, but more on the hotside.

Sorry I forgot about getting the turbo measurements, I can still do so. In the mean time my new steering wheel came in, and it a bit of a dent. Im in the process of filling it in with some JB clearweld. Since its on the bottom of the wheel im not too worried about it being visible, as this definitely isnt a show car anyway. I also started work on the head and sandblasted the valve cover. no pictures of that, but I will have some as soon as its painted.

                  stupid shipping dudes.

                  chipped away the broken stuff.

starting to fill in the clear.

I was a little bummed out about it, but I got a great deal on it, and at least its on the very bottom of the wheel where you wont see it.

Made another trip to the junkyard to try and cross off some items on my list. Came home with a nice set of seats out of a 2000 ford ZX2, bolted them straight on the factory rails, and they will work well for now. Also got my steering wheel installed, and started more cleaning of the engine bay.
