Yup, MX-3 share the same fitment.

I have Swift springs on my new Coilovers I just got for the MX3 but I haven't driven on them yet since I need to do an alignment first.

With that said as long as your springs are as you describe they will be I am pretty sure most people will be ok with those unless they are going all out for a street car or racing then maybe Swift would be an option for them.

I personally think The Swift upgrade option that other companies offer is an easy way around poor quality springs and they are an established well known brand.

For those that were not aware, the parent company in Japan for Swift Springs is Tohatsu Spring Company

However, our regular springs are NOT the same as their Swift branded springs, which are a lot more expensive due to their proprietary materials.

I did a little searching and reading and apparently the swift springs tend to have a "softer feel" vs. a normal spring with the same spring rate. They advertise that you can run about 1K more spring rate and have no additional ride harshness. Also the spring rate of the swift springs is supposed to be more consistent throughout the entire stroke.

Since your standard street springs are probably going to be softer than what Ksport ships, and your dampers will be better... i'm still thinking that ride-wise the standard springs will be fine. James is getting a good ride right now on a set of ksports with standard ksport springs retrofitted Koni dampers.

How much more consistent will the spring rate be vs. one of their standard springs... i don't know. If it's 5% more consistent... don't really care unless it's for a bleeding edge race car. Now if it's 30% more consistent then it might be worth it to me. I'm not sure you can even compare it in these terms, just using an example... I'm sure it'd be more a matter of overlaying the two spring rate graphs and seeing how far each one deviates from the advertised spring rate within the load range the spring is likely to be operating in on one of these cars.

Oh I had one other question, do you/will you offer anti sway bar mount brackets that thread onto the strut housing? I'd like to be able to switch to a rear swaybar that mounts this way sometime in the future when i upgrade my rear control arms. If you don't offer them i could probably have them made myself, I would just need the thread specifications for the strut housing.

Just running through some numbers there, and with the choice of springs that we have (unfortunately, we don't have .5K increments, only 1K increments), I think maybe 5K/4K should work for most as a general compromise for all, or even 6K/5k should you require a stiffer rear

Although this is slightly heavier at the back, as the oem setup is understeer biased (all oem setups are), this will actually even it out, maybe providing slight oversteer. And as most of you seem to be running (or want to run) larger swaybars, I don't suggest a higher spring rate as your larger swaybars effectively provide the same effect. Also, as we use digressive valving, you don't need a higher spring rate as the onset of damping is very quick, so will ride relatively stiffer than a regular linear/progressive setup.

This will keep it comfortable to drive as a daily, but also give you the stiffness/stability in the twisties.

              Everyones thoughts?

Regarding the choice of springs, I'm working out the numbers just now and, provided everyone on the list (9 so far) is confirmed (i.e pay their deposits when the time comes), I could possibly upgrade everyone to the Swift springs for not much over the initial quoted price (probably around $200 or thereabouts). At this price, it really does become a no-brainer tbh (especially when you consider the Swift Springs retail for $400/set)

Regarding the threaded brackets, I would need to check with the engineer and only after we've made the initial test set. Reason for that is, we need to make sure there is enough room/thread to allow full height adjustment and not be hampered by an extra 15-20mm bracket taking up the space.

Just for comparison sake since you asked me if I wanted to test the prototype set, would it be better for me to test yours with a spring rate like I already have to get a better comparison and as such a more accurate review? If you want the final production versions to be a lower spring rate then no problem, but just for a direct comparison or as close as we can get.

                My current spring rates are:
7K/4K with Swift springs on my MX3
7.5K/4K with K-Sport springs on my Escort wagon.

Regarding the front bracket, if you didnt want to have zero fender gap and just based off the size of the K-Sport brackets pretty sure there will be enough space for it.

Sent over my paypal info. I'm curious to hear what the stock spring rates actually tested out to be!

For street cars i think 5k/4k is going to be the best option. Should yield a more comfortable ride when set to soft... and then hopefully stiffening up the dampers will improve performance further on the autox course.

6k/5k could be leaning a bit too far towards oversteer in my opinion. No one wants surprise/snap oversteer on the street...

I would just say stick to 4k/5k.
I'll be upgrading to bigger sways, etc.

Yeah, I think 5K/4K would be the best option as well.

You're lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didn't blow the seam on your nugget box. There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat. Check it out, it's like this. If I lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if I win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, that's more important.
