    Common Issues ?

Yes I could probably try to find this information by searching... however I would appreciate a little help to save me some time.

I'm considering buying a 2004 Mazda 3... clean looking car with leather & power everything. It has about 175K on it though. At that mileage (and beyond) are there any major issues that tend to come up with these motors?

I'm not worried about anything other than the motor really... the rest of the car seems to be pretty typical FWD mazda which i am very familiar with.

    Thanks in advance!

ECU cooling fan output shorting... done 2 of them here in Australia. Not sure if it's a common problem as such, just for my workshop haha.

RHF engine mount breaking (Front of engine) is very common.... easy to replace. Don't even need to jack the car up, at standard height!

    Other than that, solid cars.

Our 06 Mazda 3 hatch had the TCM go out. Otherwise, 2.3 kicks ass. Oil changes are a bit wonky with the cartridge thing.

If you decide to get it, I have a few spare parts for it that I really don't need and don't want to throw out. Starter, re-man Autozone alternator and brand new OEM passenger engine mount.

Thanks for the tips guys, unfortunately this car fell through but i am still keeping my eye out for a hatchback 3.

I'm also curious about the 6 but i have a feeling it will seem YUUUUGE after driving escorts forever.

you'd think the 6 would feel giant, but I remember when it first came out, they had the Mazda RevItup autoX event, I drove it and it was surprisingly smaller than I thought it would be. drove a friend's later, and another guys speed6 at an autoX, and they're actually pretty nimble and not bad at all.

How scared should I be of a speed 3 with over 200k on it?

Gotta have a wagon or at least a hatchback, as my daily driver doubles as a pickup truck... Going to the dump, moving lumber and whatnot, moving amplifiers and drum sets with my band, picking up spare motors for my other car, etc.
