My 2002 P5 is due to be smogged again next year. It has just got to 249000 miles and i think it can probably go another 51k. However the check engine light code is coming back that the Cat converter is buggered and my mechanic is saying we'll need a new one to get through smog. Realistically I'll need to get this sorted inside a year or the wife will insist on buying a new car and trading this one in.
I am in CA where the emissions test are tough. what have people done to deal with this? Are there reliable inline cat replacements that do the trick??
