Well, I better start a wok log for this thing. It seems like I work on it a lot.
1994 Escort Wagon, Traded My white 95 5-door for this Wagon... It came with a mostly done BP swap, some ksport coilovers and a short shifter that is broken lol.
So Far I've;
Replaced the fuel pump with a Walbro 255 (old was bad when hot),
Replaced all three water temp senders and switch (no gauge, always in cold enrich, fan janky)
New Cap/rotor/plugs/wires and a lower mile distributor (intermittent misfire)
New Thermostat, cooling system flush and fill, (old thermostat was stuck open, coolant was gnarly)
Added a ton of missing fasteners,
Replaced the Weapon R intake with a stock tube and H-box to rid it of the breather filter on the valve cover
Painted the door trim under the windows black again.
Replaced the LX bumper and GT grille with a GT bumper and LX grille
Replaced the A.R.E. wheels with Gram Lights 57C's
Replaced the slammed KSports with James' Koni Red setup with a few minor adjustments.
Rebuilt the entire exhaust, (was very loud, very raspy, droned really bad, and not legal in my area) I added a vibrant super quiet resonator, a magnaflow cat, and a ZX2 S/R Borla to the existing spiral core glass pack, I swapped out all the crush bends for mandrel bends, I also added a v-band flange since it was one piece from the flange on the cylinder head all the way to the twin tip magnaflow, and I added a Vibrant flex pipe. To finish it off I Used Polyurethane hangar mounts. Everything is 2.5" mandrel bent and stainless. It turned out really well. I don't think I've heard a nicer 4 cylinder exhaust tone IMO . It has plenty of volume, but none of the typical 4cyl harshness.
Last night the passenger Outer tierod broke pretty good on a spirited drive with some locals, Guess it's time to order inners/outers, balljoints and some bushings. I better find another shifter for it, It also needs a water pump, which means timing belt and tensioners, both axles are flinging grease, and I need to add A/C, and rear discs. I keep finding other little problems the more I dig too.
Eventually I'll get a chance to detail it too, It is Dirty... And At some point it will be getting da Boosts... Not sure what, but I'm tempted to try another M62. I feel that I've learned enough to make it work really really well now. My second attempt worked pretty well other than the horrible clutch. Not sure I would deal with E85 again, might just use an intercooler this time.
Yep I have my work cut out for me...
