    Cody's Red 94 Escort Wagon

Well, I better start a wok log for this thing. It seems like I work on it a lot.

1994 Escort Wagon, Traded My white 95 5-door for this Wagon... It came with a mostly done BP swap, some ksport coilovers and a short shifter that is broken lol.

    So Far I've;
Replaced the fuel pump with a Walbro 255 (old was bad when hot),
Replaced all three water temp senders and switch (no gauge, always in cold enrich, fan janky)
New Cap/rotor/plugs/wires and a lower mile distributor (intermittent misfire)
New Thermostat, cooling system flush and fill, (old thermostat was stuck open, coolant was gnarly)
Added a ton of missing fasteners,
Replaced the Weapon R intake with a stock tube and H-box to rid it of the breather filter on the valve cover
Painted the door trim under the windows black again.
Replaced the LX bumper and GT grille with a GT bumper and LX grille
Replaced the A.R.E. wheels with Gram Lights 57C's
Replaced the slammed KSports with James' Koni Red setup with a few minor adjustments.
Rebuilt the entire exhaust, (was very loud, very raspy, droned really bad, and not legal in my area) I added a vibrant super quiet resonator, a magnaflow cat, and a ZX2 S/R Borla to the existing spiral core glass pack, I swapped out all the crush bends for mandrel bends, I also added a v-band flange since it was one piece from the flange on the cylinder head all the way to the twin tip magnaflow, and I added a Vibrant flex pipe. To finish it off I Used Polyurethane hangar mounts. Everything is 2.5" mandrel bent and stainless. It turned out really well. I don't think I've heard a nicer 4 cylinder exhaust tone IMO . It has plenty of volume, but none of the typical 4cyl harshness.

Last night the passenger Outer tierod broke pretty good on a spirited drive with some locals, Guess it's time to order inners/outers, balljoints and some bushings. I better find another shifter for it, It also needs a water pump, which means timing belt and tensioners, both axles are flinging grease, and I need to add A/C, and rear discs. I keep finding other little problems the more I dig too.

Eventually I'll get a chance to detail it too, It is Dirty... And At some point it will be getting da Boosts... Not sure what, but I'm tempted to try another M62. I feel that I've learned enough to make it work really really well now. My second attempt worked pretty well other than the horrible clutch. Not sure I would deal with E85 again, might just use an intercooler this time.

Yep I have my work cut out for me...

Awesome work already. Looking forward to watching this build. Your posts are always enlightening. Subbing for sure. And now Im looking at bronze/gold rims for my red wagon lol.

What did you use to paint the strips on the doors?

      that thing is real good.

ps I'm like 90% sure I have a Kartboy w/knob lying around in CT still if you want a short shifter (and don't mind waiting til June lol)

I actually found a metallic dark gunmetal Plasti-dip that I wanted to try out for the strips this time. I've tried probably 9 solutions on 8 different escorts now, and this has by far been my favorite finish yet. From anything over 5' away it looks exactly like the stockers did on my lifelong garaged red wagon back in 2004. Closer than that it has a nice metallic pop that looks good, not too gaudy. I'll get pics later today. It was my first time using plastic-dip, we'll see how it holds up in the future. For reference, I clean up the strips, remove any remaining rubber, then I mask the area off, use red scotch brite to scuff them, then blast them in several light coats of whatever I'm using. I've tried aerosol bedliner, semi-gloss black of a few different brands, Undercoating, some "trim black" stuff, once a brush on something or other a long time ago, and now this plasti-dip.

I agree that you need Gold wheels on yours! I copied this guy:

Matt yes please! This B&M needs a clip or something, it rests on the top of my resonator unless I pull it up... annoying, guess I could put a clip on it, but I've never liked the B&M's...

The window strips was the very first thing I saw and thought, damn those look mint. Then I saw the wheels, then the GT front bumper. Then I read the BP swap and now I need to go get mine finished lol

Positive it's not a dropped shifter. Checked it while I re-did the exhaust. The b&m or whatever shifter this is, has those stupid clips above and below the ball, it's missing the above clip.

its not exactly hard to do and offers a much shorter throw than anything on the market. Plus its a fancy green color lol

yo I had to ****ing check my bag to bring that back with me because the TSA decided it could be used as a club and wouldn't let me through security

anyway yeah I have it with me... side note I've got an IRTB setup that will probably go up for sale eventually because I don't see myself owning anything BP-powered anytime soon, idk if that's something you'd have any interest in
