    Mikes 88 GTX build

A few weeks ago I bought this GTX from my buddy. It has some rust on the driver side quarter panel but he gave a replacement one with the car. He also gave me a bunch of other spare parts 2 engines and trannys. I also have a vj11 turbo as well but it may need to be rebuilt as it looks like it is leaking oil. I plan to swap a BPT in the future as i already have one just siting in my garage but as of right now, i just want to drive it with the stock motor.

It already has a 2.5 inch exhaust, an aem fuel pump, and a defi boost gauge for mods. When i got it, it had a bunch of vacuum leaks( all the worm clamps on the intake pipes and IC pipes were no good. For the AFM, I used a worm clamp from a VW since it was big enough to clamp the AFM and pipe. The part number is N-024-508-5 and you can get one from VW/AUDI/SEAT/SKODA dealers if anyone was interested since the worm clamps from auto parts store never seem to last. I work at a VW dealership selling parts so it was easy for to just grab a clamp we had in stock instead of going to autozone lol) . I still have some work to do especially on the suspension. I bought the car just so i could replace my BG 323. So now on to the pictures.

The speedometer is not working so i have to check the out.

And here are the rods for the BP

I wonder what kind of attention a GTX will get at shows here in ZA. Unfortunately we had the facelifted BF until '03, so many people still consider my '87 SL to be a modern car.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to it. You said that you have a replacement panel to take care of that cancer, how much of the car does it cover?
'87 Mazda 323 SL - daily driver, backup show car (being restored as I get time)
'82 BMW 518i (E12/8) with 32/34 Weber and Simota cone - old show car (stolen)
    '70 VW 411L Auto - show/restoration project to replace 518i - sold
    '99 BMW Z3 2.8 Roadster - show project

Congrats on the new acquisition. Are any of those engines B6T's by any chance? Are they complete?

yes i have two b6ts. The only thing that is missing on both are the exhaust manifold and turbo. One of the manifolds had cracked.

I fixed the ignition timing on it as well and now the car feels like it is new!! it is currently running 1.1 BAR of boost, thats about 15-16 psi with no problem. I installed a MBC and its running great.

Well yesterday the turbo gave out. It was making some noise and i knew it was on it its way out. I have been driving it to work and yesterday it started smoking alot and not going into boost. i bought a tbird turbo from 92dx and it arrived yesterday.

My spare vj11 i found out that it is damaged :'(

I should have it back together by the end of this weekend.
I have FMIC sitting in my garage that i will try to install as well.

Vj11's are great at holding pens.

Are you going to use that VJ11 turbine housing?

My plan was to make the VJ11/tbird hybrid. Since the exhaust housing is cracked around the wastegate, i don't think i will since i don't want it to be spiking or it giving me an issue. I know the turbo was making some noise but it still ran fine and built boost before it was taken off.
