    1.8 Sohc Pro transmission

I recently bought a 92 protege dx with the B8ME 1.8 Sohc with a blown transmission and I am looking for a replacement. I've been all over the internet and I ended up here and I just got even more confused hahaha! G series, f series, Kia, ford, Mazda ohh lordy my head is spinning can someone point me in the right direction for a cross-reference on these transmissions?? Or just kinda give me some insight anything helps really

Are you wanting auto or manual?

Any of those you listed should work fit and work without much trouble. These cars originally came with F or G series transaxles. Yours would have had an F. Big difference between that and the G is the addition of an intermediate shaft to reduce torquesteer. Some Kias got a stronger version of a G series. I don't know the specifics on those.

Unless you're talking autos, then I have absolutely no idea...

Thanks for the info! So there are 4 or 5 90s model escorts in the junkyard here and I was gonna go look at afew and just check visually if they would fit and cross my fingers hahaha. Would you happen to know if the dohc trans fit the sohc? And are the dx an lx models any different transmission wise?

you have an F series transmission. the DOHC escort transmission will work if you have one of those 4-5 in the yard as a DOHC. however*** you will need the flywheel/clutch/axles to match the transmission.
escort SOHC in that year range wont bolt up to your mazda SOHC

Ok that makes sense I appreciate it! I found a used one for $520 with 16000 original miles in Kansas or something but I literally can not find one single protege like mine, but the escorts are plentiful. So it seems the escort trans/clutch/axels swap would be nice in case it happens again. Again I appreciate this information!
