    KLG4 With 200,000 Miles

I work at an auto recycler and we just got a 2001 626 with a little over 200,000 miles on it. I've been looking for one of these for the past few years for an engine swap. Are there any known issue with one of these engines with this kind of mileage? I didn't try to start the car, but I din't think it cam in for engine problems, the left front corner was smashed in and probably totalled. My brother, who has worked there for 5 years before me, said that if I want it, they can pull the engine and harness without cutting anything. They haven't priced it yet, but with that mileage I'm thinking between $300-$400 and maybe an employee discount. I can do simple work like gasket and seal replacement, which I was planning on doing anyway, but is there anything else I should be weary about?

    Bump?

Snuck out and started the car in the yard this morning. Starts right up and runs pretty smooth for the <60 seconds I let it run before having to get my ass back to work.

Nevermind. They priced it today and found the engine had a pretty bad knock. If it wasn't for that, it was looking good for me to get it, but oh well. I guess now is not the time.

Better luck on the next one...
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.
