List of Junkyards to get parts from ....

    I have an idea.
When we call a junkyard, say from the link www.car-part.com and you deal with a person that is decent with prices . We should list them here. That way others can know who to call to get parts.

Here is my 1st kick off.

I called this Junk yard, EMPIRE AUTO SALVAGE. They are in upstate new york .
There service was great. I spoke to a person named MIKE on the phone. I purchased a starter from him for 45 bucks Fedex shipped.
He said that he has a few protege's that he is parting out.
So if you need something feal free to give him a hollar at

    EMPIRE AUTO SALVAGE
    1-877-889-1640

I thought he was a pretty cool guy.
If you find a yard that you are satisfied with, throw the reference up here for others to browse...

Naumkeag Recyclers in Salem Massachusetts is awesome.... a really nice guy runs it, Mike Pelletier. Cheap stuff, high quality, good people. It's a pull it yourself place though so I'm not sure whether this is helpful or not.
        Ask me about engine management!

CMC U-pull-it here in North Augusta It's free to go look around and the parts are uber-cheap. They get new cars all the time and always have atleast 2 or 3 1st gens minimum. Not to mention they get a bunch of turbo DSM's for me to steal ECU/injectors/SMIC/turbo/BOV off of and sell on eBay

I'll list the ones in St. Louis, in order of goodness, and reasons, and a Mazda content rating(kinds of Mazdas in the yard):
              U-Wrench-It (314) 383-2333
$1 entry fee, cars raised on wheel stands, engine hoists available, decent prices(fixed prices, so you can look at the list of parts near the entrance and get the price for everything), 30 day return policy, money for cores, inventory changes very often, cars organized Imports, Ford, GM, Dodge, new arrivals are behind a fence so you can plan when to come back to have the car in the yard, Open 7 days a week.
              Mazda content: 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen Proteges(3rds are rarer, ofcourse), 2nd, 3rd, 4th gen 626s, BF 323s, MPVs, 1st gen 929s, rarer are 2nd gen 929s and Millenias, seen 1 Miata in there once.

              Taylor's Auto Salvage (314) 726-6181
$1 entry fee, good prices, wheels are assorted near the entrance so it's a great place for wheels, and you can get a whole set of wheels and tires for $50, decent inventory, decent inventory change rate, open Sundays.
              Mazda content: 1st gen Proteges(good LX coverage), 626s, 1st gen RX-7s, some 323s.

              Riverside Auto Salvage (314) 385-8845
$1 entry fee, good prices(you can negotiate a little too), good inventory, smaller junkyard, organized by imports, Ford, Dodge, GM, located right down the street from U-Wrench-It, closed Sundays.
Mazda coverage: MX-3s, 626s/MX-6s, rare are RX-7s and Miatas

Speedway Salvage 800-437-8733(located in Madison Ill, across from Gateway Raceway)
$1 entry fee, recently raised thier prices and are charging for tax, huge(I mean freggin huge) junkyard and inventory. Inventory is organized by every make(Ford, GM, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Audi/Volvo/BMW/Mercedes, trucks/vans/SUVs, and a general import area which includes Infiniti, Jaguar(older), MG, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, etc. The Mazda section has like 30-40 cars, but is located at the back of the yard(you walk like half a mile to get there). This yard is the place to go for body panels and rarer cars. Inventory changes very slowly(like they never get rid of anything, there's cars there that have been in the yard for literally years) but new cars are added every few weeks, maybe.
Mazda content: Many 1st, 2nd gen Proteges/323s, 3 or 4 MX-3s, many 626s, 3 1st gen RX-7s, many BF 323s, MPVs, B-series trucks, 1 GLC, 1 millenia, 1 3rd gen Protege(don't get your hopes up, it looks like it hit something at 80mph, it's pretty well destroyed), 1 2nd gen RX-7, 1 or 2 929s, and 1 1.8 Miata which has been sitting behind the fence of new arrivals for months. Gah.

Those are the "big 4" for St. Louis...I go to each fairly often(well, not Speedway because the slow inventory rate and raised prices(wanted $36 for a headlight!). There's also West Coninental which is located a few miles from my house, free to get in but they're rude people(want to know what you're looking for and will sometimes drive by you in the yard to see what you're doing) and the prices are absurdly high. They're getting ready to close, I think. The yard is terrible, waist high weeds, not organized, muddy, etc. Rare cars though, but not worth the trouble unless you can't find the part anywhere else. Kinda neat place to look around, I guess.

Hope that helps the people in the St. Louis area.

              1994 Protege BP-Turbo.....1994 Miata Supercharged.....2003 Protege5 stock DD.....1988 323 GT Turbo
On the road soon: 2003 Protege5 V6 swap

                Well, Midwestern Wisconsin.

                Somerset Auto Salvage
                1920 State Road 35
                Somerset, WI
                (715) 247-5753

$2 entry fee, has a couple First Gen Proteges, a few 323's, probably a few Escorts. Good prices, although the employes can be a hassle to work with.

                U Pull R Parts
                2875 160th St W
                Rosemount, MN
                (651) 322-1800

$2 entry fee, many many First gen proteges, although not one 323! A couple MX3's and MX6's, and a lot of Escorts. Awsome prices, go there if you need any parts for a tan protege. They have around 4 of them.

Junkyards to stay away from in this area......

                All Star Auto Of Minnesota
                1770 Saint Croix Trl S
                Lakeland, MN

Friggen expensive everything, employes don't know squat. Never have anything, plus they suck at pulling parts!!!

                Pilquist Auto Parts
                2910 Quant Ave N
                Stillwater, MN

Stay the hell away from this place at all costs!! They charge almost twice as much then any other salvage yard for a part. That's if they have the part even. The guys at the counter have to be some of the rudest jerkoffs I have ever dealt with.

Thats about all the major junkyards around the Hudson, WI area. There are a couple smaller ones here and there. Anyone know of any other ones in the area worth going to, or worth avoiding post!!!
