That Yaris is in a different ballpark than the 1st gen protege - can't really compare the two. They are made a decade apart. I think for a run-about the Yaris is not a bad option if you were looking at a new car. I'd much rather have a new European or Japanese market diesel car than a Yaris but this isn't Europe. As for performance platform - I don't see it. But heck, the protege isn't meant to be a performance car either.

I actually like the 5 door version they offer in Taiwan (saw a lot of those nicely done up over there). I'd take one over a honda fit if thats all i had to choose from.. Fits to me are waaay overhyped, and peope invest way too much money into them lol.

I think I had the biggest engine there no turbo though but the drive up there was awesome, my friend and I took a road I had never been on before and I had some fun taking the Pro though the turns

i thought they all came with 1.5's? i drove a bunch of automatic ones at work today and boy are they GHETTO! they all had a/c but no radio wtf? and they were 4 doors with no power locks ftl. it's really surprising though, for how tiny the hood is, it still looks like it would be pretty easy to work on cause the engine is so small.

uh dude in Japan you can get a Vitz AWD and Turbo just to let you know.
And I have factory power everything AND a factory CD that was there when I picked it up, that stuff came with the Power Package. And Lex in some counties it is offered with a diesel engine as well as a 1.8 engine as an option. and FYI Yaris is to Vitz as 323 is to Pro and/or Escort is to Laser

my only question why are the hoods up, the hampsters looked like they were trying to sleep! anyways they both look bone stock sowhat the hell is there to look at." wow look at that blue one its engine looks just like the red one". i'd rather go to a civic rice meet, at least you would see some CAI's. and that super charger kit is a joke, you go get that 4200 kit and i'll buy a 2600 turbo kit and i'll get more power for the dollar hands down. those cars are nothing more than a run-about. you should have bout a xb just as ugly but more of a following! just my opinion.
