Would these wheels fit my Protege?

I'm sick of my factory steelies, winter salts have killed them. I have a set of '93 GT wheels but I bought them with winters on them and I don't really want to expose them to the winter. It took me three and a half years to find a set because they are so rare here, and the set I got are in good shape for their age. So I need some winter wheels.

There are alot of choices out there with older wheels from oldschool Mazdas, I'm wondering if anyone knows first hand if these fit or not. I think the biggest you can go on a 1st gen is 16" with skinny tires (am I right?). Also, does width (5, 5 1/2, 6) effect what I can and cannot use, and the tire size as well? I assume all 4 bolt wheels would fit, but I think I'm wrong.

I'm about 95% sure 80s mazda wheels won't fit. The last pic(3rd gen protege) will.

Do you know what the bolt patterns are (for all of them listed here)? I know my Protege is 4x100 - I know I sound like a noob but what does that exactly mean? Can I modifiy 80s rims to make them fit? I would have thought those 13" 323 alloys would fit because they are releated to the Pro.

I'm pretty sure actually that all 4 bolt Mazdas have been 4x100. Most imports use that pattern exclusively; it was only domestics that used the 4x108 pattern.

honda accords and whatnot used a bigger 4 lug pattern also.

100mm from center to center of the bolts.

I think most or possibly all 80s mazda 4 lugs are 4x114.

Easiest way to remember it is:
All 1989 and older 4 lug Mazdas are 4X114.3 or 4X110, all 1990 and newer Mazdas are 4X100.

Thus, the top 3 won't work and the 4th, the '02-'03 Protege LX 15" wheel, will work no problems of fitment in any way.

I love those old 80s 626's. Were they good to you? What was good/bad about them?

Anyway, I posted this question on TOP and the oldschool 80s wheels won't fit, none of them will. All older 4 bolts were 4x114.3, I was told they started switching in 1990, which deletes any 626 wheels because they switched to bigger 5 bolts by then. I guess I don't have much 4x100 selection for old factory alloys, cause I'm not a fan of any of the MX-3 styles. Only the 1st gen GT's (and US LX's) and 3rd gen LX Proteges are my only choices besides Miata wheels. I guess I could always find some Honda or Toyota or VW wheels and slap them on too, and just run them without center caps.

I like some of those older 626 wheels. Couldn't you convert to 4x114.3? Or would that be unwise because its so old now? Or would it be a waste of time and money? If only I had an 80s 323, I could slap on so many cool retro wheels.

Ya snuck in a reply while I was typing. . You meant the top 6, right? Those first three links are not the same as the ones pictured.

Didn't I e-mail you a long time ago about your CarDomain page? You still rockin the '88 323? Such a modern little classic now. I wish someone made as detailed a page when it comes to 90-94's as you did with the 86-89's.
