BF 323 custom OEM short shifters (2WD)

So I got an idea to help out my fellow BF peeps since the aftermarket is drying up for our cars. Taking the the technique I used on my 03 protege shifter I modified my 323GT shifter. While it was not as easy I did come out successful and will be making six more (what I could find at the yard).

They are modified, filled with shot (increase weight) and powder coated. Price will be $50 shipped in the states. I am locating the appropriate grease to include and possibly a new boot (gotta call the dealer and onlinemazdaparts). The new boot may increase the price, we'll see. I'm not sure what color to coat them: black, red, or gunmetal. They all have to be the same else the cost goes up a little.

I HAVE NOT completed them yet. Reply with interest and I will try to get them done asap. All fab'd by the end of this week and off to the powder coat (10 more days or so).

The modified and uncoated product. Notice I took 1/2" off the top and threaded a little more. If you like I can leave it the stock height.

Shift throw length comparison, quite a difference, about 2.5" less. Even with my small hands I can shift without moving my arm.

    Appearance and customary username label.

    Update 5-30-10
-completed moving all six balls. Dropping off to get coated on tuesday.

    5-31-10
    - decided to just coat them in 60% gloss black since I already have other parts at the shop using this powder.

I'm not sure they are the same as the BG. The bottom tube is not centered and I think my BJ P5 was centered.

I'm going to jut powder coat them in black since I'm adding them to my other parts that are already at the shop.

                  Thanks Rocketman!

peaking of BG's, do you suppose there would be interest for me to do shifters for them? There's a ton of them at the yard.

ha ha, I have six that will be ready to ship in a few weeks. Just dropped them off with my other parts today and they said two weeks. Also still looking into new boots (small ones that keep water & dirt out.)
