Yes, but Mazda uses the same HLAs for the SOHC and DOHC 1.6L and 1.8L engines offered in the BFs and BGs, I don't see why the solid lifters wouldn't work?
If I remember correctly, it's ok to use hla cams with solid lifters, but not the other way around.

this is true, if you can get them shimmed right. but then you arent taking advantage of the solid lifters capability to support higher ramp rates... might as well just stay HLA
