    ORG RallyX #5

With the being the last ORG RallyX til September, I was going in with good spirits. The weather was awesome!!! Water truck came and soaked the course twice before our runs. I was placed to be the last car for our field.. Which is ok, as the course can dry out much more. Some guy comes up to me and asks If his kid can ride along with me. I had no problem with it at all. So Matt, 16 years old hops in the car. we start chatting. This is his first event. He wants to build a Golf to beat it up. I told him he's got a great starting car.

So i get ready for my first attempt. I went at it, fairly easy, but it felt great. FAST course.. No kidding, prolly the fastest event ORG has put on in a long time. Coming to the finish is a box easily maneuvered without losing much speed into a hard left less than a hairpin, but greater than a 90* right into a HARD right straight to the finish. Well I spun and killed the car right over the timing lights.. Not the physical equipment lol. I thought score! I stopped right here, my timing is good! They tell me I need a re-run. Since I stayed on the lights so long it picked me up as dust and kept counting.

I line up again for my 1st attempt telling Matt he's welcome to continue riding. Starter flags me off, and I'm flying. Not taking it very easy this time. It felt so g'damn good!!! I fly through the finish better than before. My time I just know is better than before and the first felt strong. Well... they come up and say... You need a re-run again. Timing wasn't ready and she sent you before she was suppose to. Apparently The starter tried to flag me after I launched, but no other workers were paying attention, so no-one else flagged me down.

Stage up again. 3rd time for attempt #1. We're sitting close to 10 minutes waiting to go. I kinda felt bad. I'm cutting in front of everyone, 3 runs while they all just finished their 1st lol. But hey, it's all practice time so I was told. Going into the large left sweeper which decreases sharp at the end, I pushed too much brake and through the back end out and I went WAY wide sideways. Kept going. The rest felt ok. I hit a stinking cone over the bridge. Gr. Come to the finish with my time of 1:09.320 and that's counting 1 cone. So 1:07 raw. I wish my previous time(s) could have been the one(s) cause I know they were better raw, and clean too. It's ok. It was the 2nd best time of the afternoon so far overall even counting my penalty.

2nd pass went great. Although I know I hit a cone still. But I hit 2 actually. Same spot as pass #1. I was just cutting the exit of the bridge to narrow. That's my only prob. Time was 1:10.354 counting 2 cones. Raw was 1:06. I can do better, just gotta be clean.

3rd pass felt awesome!!!! I really though it was clean too. I focused on exiting the bridge, and it worked Run was clean, I was fairly smooth, quick. Time was 1:06.092. Oh ya, I may have broken :05 but I jumped out of gear coming out of a sweeper into the slalom. That very likely hurt.

4th pass. I'm shooting to clear 1:05 as Jessica who's in my class is 1:03, and Goose has 1:05. Jessica thought I was her competition, than I told her Goose and I were pretty dead even. Matts' friend David rode with me this last pass. His first time out too. I actually thought this pass was kinda fail. Took the sweeper way wide again and coming into the final slalom my entry was just horrible. Had to make huge correction. Wasn't bad though. 1:09.093 counting 1 cone. Raw is -:02.

I told Matt and David I hoped they enjoyed there first time out, and I made it fun for them. They both seemed to have a blast and went to their dad immediately and said they need to get their Golf running to bring it out. They got 2 months.. :D

Awards start coming around. We figured it would be Jessica, Goose, Myself, and Matt who co-drives Gooses' Civic. Well... Jessica did get 1st. Goose did get 2nd. A first timer in a Golf beat me by 2 seconds to get 3rd, and I get 4th. The 3 of us were shocked. It's cool a 1st timer does this good. I got 3rd my first time, knocking Jessica out of 3rd. So.. guess it's Karma? lol

With the time off. I'm gonna get my skid plate re-done. Get a K&N x-stream filter, and hopefully head to Washington for the Brooklyn Bash RallyX July 18-19

"There's a hierarchy of insanity in motor sports. Normal people think all racers are crazy. Folks who race sedans think people in open-wheel cars are nuts. People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."
