i finaly ripped out my interior to do my floor and it turns out my 1990 protege gt has no where near as much rust than yours lol. just two small holes in the front.

I had a couple of exhaust bolts that had some rust, but I replaced them.

Wow... it's been a while since I've tweaked this thing...

As fall and winter is fast approaching I am soon to be putting l'il Bee away. I haven't done much to the car this past winter and summer as the car is my key daily driver and I can't afford to take the car out of commission to make improvements. Furthermore, owning 6 Protege's with 4 on the road and 2 for parts, you can imagine that I really don't have the time to work on mine since every weekend I have to fix and maintain the other 3.
I'm about to buy a winter beater so I can put the GT away and get to work on it. The plan for this winter is to remove the rust from the outside of the car, principally clean up the bottom of the doors and the rocker panels, remove the rust stars on the roof, shave the door locks and repair the small dents around the exterior. Mechanically, my plan is to modify the suspension. I already have the subframes, front pulled from a 98 Escort ZX2 and a 93 MX3, and of course the 93 Mx3 rear subframe as well. The VF12, engine rebuild and engine management will wait until next winter. I have another GT for parts sitting here in the yard and will test fit all these parts on it before installing them on li'l Bee.

I bought a 91 Protege during the summer from jumpn'crash hoping to transfer the Eibach/Tokico S/R suspenson, exhaust, B pillar gauges and tie bars, but the wife liked the car so much she forbade me to tear it apart or replace the parts with parts from the GT. However that might change before the winter. I'll buy the winter car for her and use the 91 for my personal winter car.

Going forward I will be putting all the measurements and details regarding the suspension modifications in this log for personal reference and to give some key info others may want.

Ok so it's now January 2011 and I've pulled the interior from the car again. The plan is to install a leather headliner with a yellow racing stripe down the centre. I bought enough material to do the seats as well but that will need to wait.

Also I am removing all the rust from the roof. I have removed the complete sunroof as well. I came across some more rust where the roof meets the windshield, so, since the windshield is new and when installed I saw rust in the cowl under the wipers, I've decided to remove the windshield and fix those spots as well...

Pulled the windshield and discovered rust. I'll need to get at the airbox... mucho rust there...

I'll get at all the rust with the sandblaster this week...If I'm going to do the roof, I'd better do it right...

ok... all the urethane has been removed from the windshield and car body. I'll begin the sand blasting process tomorrow.

I uncovered the rust a bit more...I'm now glad I got to this now before it was too late...

Picked up a few parts locally: JDM headlights and corners, GTX front strutbar, BP26 cams and GTR vents... vents are replicas...need to find some meshing for them....

This grit blasting is going to take a while... did a bit more today... measured out my first cut of bad metal...

are i seriously blasting all the area. u know theres faster ways to strip it down and u can just sandblast the areas
