I already have the materials I'm going with 11 gauge top plates and 14 gauge walls...
Taking a long hard look at this. I had cut out the s/t's from a 95 I owned. It's what I will show next... you can see where the corrosion is attacking. I will need to sandblast the inside of the tower and expose the spots where the pieces meet. The joints are sealed with seam sealer. that's the upper corners. Then, I will need to inspect the joint between the cap and the inside wall. This is actually right near the spot where I was thinking of running new metal since it's where the metal is thickest on the sidewall: make for a stronger weld... I was thinking of going to just above the spot welds.
Now that is all depending on how bad mine are from the inside... I may say Frigg' it and just make 2 plates, cut the top out along the top edge and weld another piece right on top...pics are coming...

Hi guys. I was diagnosed with cancer in December 2015. I had the right side of my jaw bone removed and a bit of my tounge and neck so I haven't been able to do much with my car. But, it's been 20 weeks since my last chemo and radiation therapy and I feel good enough to get going on this car and get it done. It's been sitting idle for 6 years.
I've attached pics of what I have done: removed caps, shaped some new metal on there and set them up for plasma cutting. I got my 20 gallon sand blaster working properly so I'm ready to get into some serious repair. Stay tuned! .
So as I'm cleaning out some parts, I decide to cut open a door to see just htf these things function and what I should salvage before I scrap it. I already have extra doors so I'm just going to keep the motors and the glass. The rest can go ...
