tow hook bolts are gonna be the best place to mount the cross member, for sure. i'm sure most people wont mind needing to redo IC pipes, i certainly dont mind. there's not really any way to make it clear a "normal" fmic pipe anyway, since the pivot HAS to be on the same axis as the LCA pivots or it will bind.

if you have to remove the tow hooks completely to mount it, i think it'd be a good idea to have at least one tow hook built into the traction bar somewhere.

People actually keep those tie-down brackets? I figured they were like the baby teeth on the Miatas.

kinda close to the wheel... if you turn a corner and it catches the tire it wouldnt be good.

idk. i'd rather have a hook of some sort up there.

Wow! Great project. One dumb question: what is the advantage to acid dipping over sand blasting?

I use those tow hooks alot as well, can't get the car on/in the trailer with the front bumper on and if I hook to the LCA I may change the alignment slightly. The acid dip gets in places that the sandblast/media blast can't---that's the only advantage though and it has tons of drawbacks. There's little or no weight reduction between the two (the laws in CA dumb the acid down so there's no chemical milling to speak of---now Texas is another story, I hear 30% weight reduction is still doable!). Also seamwelding may be easier, but I didn't experience that.

WOW. I just read through this thread and looked at your pics, and you just went up 20 notches in my book. You have amazing talent and drive to build these cars. I can't wait to see what else you will do and make for this car. Please keep us posted on any or all parts you might be willing to make for our cars. It would be nice to have someone with the dedication to build parts for us.

ALSO, when/if you sell this like you did the last car, put me at the top of the list!

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

Here's another of the steering shaft/wheel going in-

Also the white car is for sale---I'm not sure whether it will be with the bp or bpt or both---deadly sleeper if your interested PM me and I'll give you details on that build.

Oh and yes Sarge the visiblility is slightly limited, but more from the height of the seat then the way back position. The cage is tucked up to the pillar so it's no factor, and the a-pillar interior pieces are gone so it's more open. Seeing directly in front of the vehicle is limited by 50% so hitting your marks starts early and is done by feel/braile! You get used to it like any thing else...

Are you going with custom lateral links for the rear using rod ends/heim joints? I am waiting to see where you would connect the rear stabilizer bar if you do.

ftjandra, for the US touring car stuff I'm not allowed to use the tubular crossmember so I've "massaged" the holes in the stock crossmember and figure on using the longer mx-3 arms. For the bar I'm using the zx-2 adjustable bar and modifying the mounts. For the unlimited stuff I'm mounting the swaybar to the tubular crossmember like this-

Then using a tubular link with rodends and the stock escort link (I've already widened the crossmember, and moved the holes up) which we'll strengthen.
I've talked about using a speedway engineering bar and mounting it to the framerails so the bar would go directly through the spare tire well (we've removed it) and link up to the spindle or strutbody somehow. If we did this we could use an adjustable blade type link arm and have cockpit adjustable swaybar---I don't think I need it to win---no one else has it--it's like a grand ---so I'll wait until I deem it necessary.
